Craigslist 1974 HO
1974 Cutlass'S' Hurst/Olds - $10 (Chrisney,In 47611)
I assume he means $10,000.00 This is a true numbers matching Hurst/Olds. The color is white with black and gold trim. Approximately 600 of these were produced in this color combination. It is a 350 engine with an automatic transmission. It has the swivel bucket seats, mileage minder gauge, factory tach, factory wheels. Runs excellent and the body and paint are in very good condition. The interior is in good condition but does need carpeting . The 1974 Hurst/Olds was the indy pace car that year. pics here http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1570644786.html

Hmmm, was an all white top an available combination? I thought the targa area had to be black or vice versa. Targa H/O emblems look a little too high up. My memory is going, did 350 equipped '74's get the Oldsmobile script on the grill? Why remove the hood ornament? You can get replicas, or at least leave the mount. Where is the motor minder located if you have the tach? Are they put next to each other on the console? C'mon, my feeble mind wants answers!

74 ho
They are suppose to have contrasting vinyl top colors in either way but I have known of a black car that had an all black top also which was said to be ordered that way and that car was very original so it's believable. No way would I believe this subject car's top because the car has been redone and would need documentation to prove it came that way.
The 350 equipped cars did not get the Oldsmobile script on the grill, they have the same grills as the W30 or 442 except the emblem mounting tabs were cut off ruining them for the other applications! Seen a few '73-'74 HOs around without hood ornaments also and I believe those just got replacement hoods without the hole for the ornament which explains this because all did originally come with it. The Motor Minder gauge is mounting on lower panel above right knee. Seller says it's one of 600 in this color combo which is unfounded as many sellers make statements like this but have no way to prove it. Basically this is one of 1420 Y-77 H/Os made. Thanks Jon.
The Olds emblem really looked wrong to me on the grill. It's always strange that so much money is spent on a restro and they can't spend 10 minutes to measure where the targa emblems should be located. Same with the vinyl tops. I realize getting the correct vinyl doesn't exist, but they could at least put a little padding under the new and replicate the colors! A guy I know did it and it turned out rather well. |

color combo's
I've also seen a W30 for sale in N. Illinois with a gold roll bar but that couldn't have been original. Also the rear triangle windows are smaller on a '74 H/O because of the roll bar and there is a plastic insert in the windows compensating for the roll bar width. This car has larger rear triangle windows.
My car is black with a white roof and black roll bar and is mostly original. From a majority of the cars I've seen, the black cars usually come with a black roof and white roll bar. I'd like to find out the numbers for color combinations and W30/W25(S). I know there are 380 W30's, but how many are pace cars, how many are not and of those, how many are white/black/white, white/white/black, black/black/white and black/white/black. Then throw in the white or black interior...

I seen that one with the gold vinyl targa band also and it was not original as that Muscle Car dealer claimed. Anyhow that car has long been sold and don't know where it went.
Don't we all wish they had breakdown numbers for colors, vinyl, and options, but seems they were only concerned with how many of each model was built. The Official Pace Car replica decals were an option that cost less than twenty bucks and you would not know how many or which ones got that option either unless there is paperwork documentation. |
