    1973 442 Grilles

I think the Hurst had different grilles.

Grilles for `73 442 and Hurst/Olds were the same. Different grilles were used for the plain Cutlass and Cutlass S models. The guy did a nice job restoring the ones listed now on ebay. I restored the ones in my car. What a time consuming job!

The grilles I restored for my car were the original ones off of my car. I was lucky that my 442 was mostly complete. Anyway, the grilles had a couple of cracks and a cracked mounting tab. I repaired those with fiberglass and resin. I repainted them the correct satin black and dull silver. I painted the black first then masked them and shot the silver. Masking the black took several hours! They turned out really nice so all the time and work definitely paid off. The grilles are the main focal point when you look at the front of the car.

I always loved the 73 grilles. They are quite unique in comparison to any other year. Eventually, I'd like to get another set to restore mine. Oh wait, Gary, how much would you charge a brother for your grille restoration skills? I'd make sure beers are on me! You've got great brewpubs in Denver! Yeah, so eventually the grilles, just like eventually, I'd like to get quarters, and paint, and interior, and bankruptcy!!
