I also have scans of at least 6 different newspaper ads from Mar 25 to May 14 1976 promoting the 1976 UFO by Ken Garff Oldsmobile of Salt Lake City with more info like what UFO stood for, "partly Cutlass Supreme and part Cutlass S", a price of $5,996, only 19 left as at April 15, 14 left as at April 23. That dealer was obviously the main driver behind the UFO. I in fact have scans of their ads of Y76 UFO's from 1974 to 1977, many were quite detailed in their descriptions of what they were and what was included year by year. According to the ads, in 1974 "only 13 available to Utahans", in 1975 "only 50 allocated to Utah", in 1976 no availability figures, in 1977 "Garff will be getting 45 UFO cars and no more". None have special UFO badging anywhere. The ads seem to be the only documentation of the UFO.

I do not have the window sticker for my UFO. I have the original hand written June 08 1976 dealer invoice (Morris Motors in Provo, Utah, list price $6,214.34, sold for $5,585.58) and a low quality scan of Mar 26 and Mar 28 1976 Morris Motors local newspaper ads with the head line "They're in, the 1976 UFO Cutlasses" with 6 small pics of the special features (Special grill design, Salon steering, Super Stock wheels, dual mirrors and Vinyl landau roof), 1 pic of Available swivel bucket seats, and 2 pics of the whole car clearly showing the front grill and special rear quarter window. My invoice does not say UFO.

Another 4 page brochure for the 1976 GMO is up for sale on EBay. I bought mine from this guy last fall, it was an original and in perfect condition. Here is the link. He might have a box of them but he only sells one at a time.

It is an usual oversize, not 8.5 X 11. I did scan a copy for myself reducing it to standard size. I could email you a copy of my scan if you message me your email.

I also have a scan of a Chicago newspaper 1976 Chicago Auto Show supplement dated Fed 22 1976 in which the Oldsmobile feature story/promo stated that the Cutlass GMO was the star of the 19 Oldsmobiles at the auto show, available only at Chicagoland dealers.

Did you grab the pics of that mahogany 1976 y76 "MOD7" that was advertised in Hemmings this summer? I too have been building a data base on 76-77 Cutlass S & 442 of which I own 3 76 S's, one a 15,000 mile y76 UFO (2nd owner) 100% original. I would love copies of pics, one of mine is in same color.

FYI, my y76 UFO has no special badging, but I have identified it by matching my original dealer invoice to UFO advertising by 2 dealers in the Salt Lake City, Utah area newspapers.
UFO stood for "Utah's Fantastic Olds", special edition available only in spring at "Utah's Friendly Oldsmobile" Dealers Association stores. I bought my UFO in Salt Lake 8 years ago.

Fyi, in 1976, Chicagoland dealers promoted their GMO as a 76 1/2 model in a 4 page brochure and at the Chicago auto show. So I also like to call mine a 76 1/2.
