Ok, Got my car back.. frame looks great. Good News!
Did some looking... I need to either replace or repair the cowl and the bottom of the firewall.
What would you do?
I'm tempted VERY tempted to make my H/O non A/C. I have access to a few non a/c cars. I have no use for it/don't/won't miss it.. my DD doesn't have it, and quite frankly I've never complained (welcome to Massachusetts).
So.. I could.. in order of difficulty starting with hardest/monst expensive.
A. Change firewall and cowl plate from junkyard cars... drill spot welds, etc.
B. Change firewall from my parts car, and get a cowl plate from a 'yard car.. same diff.. My parts car firewall has one small hole. Cost would be cheaper.
C. Cut out firewall parts and section them (holes are at the toeboard all along the seam.. my parts car is fine there)... and repair the cowl panel as it's something no one ever sees.. and just cut the non a/c vent hole in it panel as if it were OEM.
and a related question should I just leave the A/C intact.. I could get one of those 'ac delete' panels that are reproed, and you leave your underdash stuff alone.. just that where it says "a/c max a/c" would REALLY annoy me.
rambling I know.
