Ok, here's a new one on me. Looks like possibly Buick pace car decals w/the Olds added? What do you guys say? Definatly different.

woah! there's our hood though... stripes and all. overall, its kinda cool. if somebody did this themselves, they were thorough. I mean, look at the interior!

After looking over the pics, I'd have to say it's a modified Salon. Has all the neat "period correct" stuff for sure.

Salons had these style seats [often two tone] and t-tops also.

The 1977 Pace Car was a Delta 88 not a Cutlass. It wasn't a H/O. This car is home made.

Yea that's right, the Buick century free spirit pace car was '76. Kinda resembles one with all the graphics.

Sounds like he's trying to pass this thing off as "original" . All our cars are one of one when we do stuff to them. He's done a nice job, but should just state that it's a tribute car and stop implying that it's a rare one of one.rolleyes:

I agree. I'm in the process of cloning a prototype, at least there was 1 documented prototype made to clone it against. It is neat and seems very well done, but someone may be getting taken to the cleaners.
[if it sells for stupid money, say over 20k]

I say fake also.. Way to many Hurst and H/O emblems and decals all over. Nicely done but not a Prototype. IMO

Where's this car now?

I saw a few original Pace Cars in Lansing for the 100th Anniversary. This one is owned by General Motors last time I saw it. Perhaps the Olds History Centre owns it now.

There were 2401 Delta pace car replicas built for the public in 77. It's obvious the guy got the decals from one. Now why would this Cutlass have a 455 when the actual 77 H/O prototype that was/is owned by Jeff Fieldsend had the 403? If you actually do have such a rare beast, do you really put it on ebay? Don't get me wrong, so far the price is right, but to try and pass it off as something it's not...All I can think of is the quote from Tommy Boy. "Hey, I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I got the spare time." With that being said, I do like the color combo and the spoiler though.

definitely well done.... i would, in no way whatsoever, frown at somebody putting a car like this together BUT to try passing it off as legit. Come on....

I'm also jealous of the rear wing.

The actual '77 pace car is at the Speedway. They have it as part of their collection. I've seen it several times (if I knew how to post pix I would). If you ever see pix of the race, AJ Foyt won his 4th 500 and did a victory lap with the track owner. When he sat on the modified roof he crushed it and it was later repaired.

I see now it's approaching stupid money IMO  [16k]. You can still get a lot of car for that kind of coin. It is neat but a little "over the top" for my taste. I just got another one of those spoilers off ebay for $200, It's even painted the same color as our Supreme  . They seem to be hard to come by, but they do pop up on there from time to time.

p.s. Keith I believe that's a timer for the headlights but not 100% sure on that.

I noticed that yesterday, but the reserve was 28.9K? It bid to close to his new reserve on the last auction, he should have taken the money and ran.
