Ok.. I know, this should be posted in EBAY finds, etc.. but I figured it might as well be under "History" as well..

1993 Cutlass is the subject matter at hand. I know, not our genre, but its worth posting as I am curious.

What we have here makes me scratch my head... Did Hurst do a conversion on these cars? Why is it not the 3.8 v6? Was there a 25th anniversary edition with the badges, shifter, hood scoops, and such??

Anyone think this is a real odd ball, like someone might have made this up themselves?

Could it be a footnote to history?? Just like the Areo package late 80's H/O Cutlass?

Comment away, I'd love to here thoughts on this car. It doesnt look to legit, but then I may very well be wrong, which case begs to say, WHY did they build such a farce?

those hood scoops are definately stick on. The h/o badge on the door and the console looks to be stick on as well.. Im not an expert by any means. In fact I dont really know jack about oldsmobile history, but that car looks so fake its making my eyes burn. If hurst did put their name on that FWD POS, I hope someone lost their job over it.

Hahahaha that is funny as shit!
73-75 badges into in 1993 and a dual gate... to much!
Ahhhh technology is 20 years past that crap(and I mean that in a totally loveable way!)
I think Bert said this a while back...
Hood scoops from the maker of Lee press on nails!
Too friggin funny! It has 4 bids too!

On a side note... I do like the job they did on the dual gate!

No, someone's wet dream.

If I recall correctly, the only two prototypes that did not make production was the 1977 fastback car, and the 1982 Prototype that saw a great deal of display, but never made.

The 1984 was the last one.

As we all know, a new "Hurst" is badging Firebirds, Camaros, Vipers

Phony as a three dollar bill, but done tastefully minus the scoops and w-25 stickers.I always liked that body style,as i own one ,my daily driver.

Not original, but hurst did recycle those H/O emblems for the 1988 kit. Not a very good conversion, but cool enough to want it. My wife and I got a '92 for our first anniversary present to each other, and at the time I told her " don't get too attached to it, if they make a 25th H/O, I'm trading this in". I loved that car. The optional engine was a 3.4, not a 3.8 . From what I gather, that dual gate shifter was for a Camaro, and was the only 4 speed version made.

Also, Angelo Valenti(?) in Illinois made a killer '93 convertible tribute H/O that was so nice, Doc Watson said " If we would have made one, this is what it would have looked like. Do a search for it, it is really nice. He also has a Darth Vader concept Cutlass tribute.

One last note, Doc went to the 100th Olds show in Lansing in a 455 powered Olds Bravada he made, and it had 68 H/O badging as I recall.

I really like it [minus the scoops], that shifter has me scratching my head...looks like it belongs there.

Gauge package with tach too boot, cool.

I've always wanted to find one of these similarly equipped in nice shape and use the '76-'77 decklid 442 decals on the doors and make my own version of a late model 442.

Here are some pic's of Angelo's car, a '94 actually. He always displays it as a 'Tribute' and definitely makes no pretension that it's something that it's not as opposed to the farce from the auction.

Angelo was going for a 20th anniv theme of the 1974 pace car, IMHO much better than the one from the auction.

No offense jeff, but it as big of an abomination as the OP posted, I'm a youngin' but still hold roots in classic design and those 90s olds are... well... IMO the equivelant of an attempt to polish a 40 pound turd, with spit and shine, and and a finger massage, none of which I'd like to partake in.

I do however like the dual gate in the ops post. and may make a call or 50-11 in intrest in the shifter.

I'll stop posting now till sober moments arrive.

I saw this car at the Diamondale cruise the night before Homecoming last year. It's really cool!

The ebay car does have one thing that is EXTREMELY hard to come by and worth a good chunk of $$$$$$$$.

The 4 speed Dual/Gate shifter for use with an overdrive trans.

Dammit, I hate it when Dennis' meter breaks...again! Apparently, people have no regard for the well being of others' BS meters...

If you're a member of OCA, there's a writeup on the 78 proto, which became the79 H/O.
