Doug,

Thanks so much for posting that clip. I am a huge Alero fan. I am the owner of a 2004 2 door. I've never seen the Alero OSV but I have seen the Intrigue. A person in my local area bought it at Barrett Jackson several years ago and had it at our local GM shop one day. I just happened to be there the same day and snapped these pics.

They also did a set of special OSV cars that were given away as I remember. A car from each model line was given to different designers for conversion and modification. I believe the lady who did the Alero conversion put a dragon motif on it. I have a postcard about it somewhere.

If you run across that card if you could post a pic here I would enjoy seeing it. I don't know what became of the Alero OSV. GM sold off a lot of cars at Barrett Jackson as part of their bankruptcy proceedings but I don't know if that was one of them or not. My Alero has been the best Olds I've ever owned. There's a lot of sentimental attachment to that car because it was the last Olds produced.

I will see if I can dig it up. My mom graced with with a rabid desire to collect whatever interests me, and unfortunately, everything interests me! She did not however, pass on the orginizational gene. To quote from the end of Indiana Jones, it is being held in a safe location. It is safe because I don't know where it is. I share your love of the Alero as I have one myself. I got it for the same reason as you, it was the last Oldsmobile. In fact, I have a Final 500 alero, number 408. So I have the 92nd to last Olds ever to be made on the planet!

To Doug Blake:
Thank you so much for the info. Several of those I had no idea existed. The pace car is now part of the collection at the R. E. Olds Museum in Lansing. Saw it for the first time last June. I've got pics of the red OSV and Alpha Concept. Deborah at the museum told me the Alpha has been crushed. That's really sad. It is a really cool car. Wish they had put that exact style into production. I also saw where the convertible Alero was auctioned at Barrett Jackson.

To Ebayalias:
It's great to know that you are an Alero fan and have one of the final 500s. I would love to have one but I have three cars (the 73 Cutlass, a 96 Aurora and the 04 Alero) and I have no more storage space or the money to keep additional cars maintained. It's on my wish list though along with about a dozen other Oldsmobiles. I may sell the Aurora at some point and get a Final 500 if I can find one at a good price.

There's an unregistered, essentially zero mileage one in TX for $19-20K that I know of. They also have a Final 500 Intrigue that I would kill for! But I'm already (1) car and (2) 1/2 cars over my limit as is.

Also to Doug Blake,,,

While on You Tube I also watched the video clip of the Reos you made. Enjoyed that too. The Reo National Meet was in Murfreesboro TN a couple of years ago. That's about two hours from where I live so I went to see it. Saw several of the cars in person that were in your video. Awesome!
