Last Friday we had an earthquake, no damage, had my three grandsons over for the night so it was kinda cool to experience it with them. Then Monday afternoon we had a F3/F4 tornado get to within about a mile of the house. Our youngest grandson was still visiting, at four years old I don't think he was as excited as we were. We do have a tornado shelter, so it would have been safe it it had hit us. I did make three observations while watching it.
1. They are a lot bigger and scarier in person.
2. They look like they are coming right at you until they are are about 4 miles past you.
3. Yes it does kinda sound like a freight train.
As far as I know no one was hurt, although a local family was trapped for a while in their shelter.
The tornado picture was after it was 4 or 5 miles past.
