While at 7t4hurst place yesterday workin on the 73 Supreme, he show'd me this unique part on his 74 Hurst. It's the Hurst Electronic Solid State Ignition box.
Thought it was/is pretty unique, and must be rare! I've never saw one before, have you's?? Thought it was too good not to share with our community.
What can you's tell us about it?

Yea, pretty cool Hurst product! What's to say, it's a solid state module used with your conventional ignition for better performance. Always cool to have a period correct Hurst accessory in your H/O!

I never knew those came on the actual cars. I know they were an aftermarket piece. Never seen one personally.

They didn't come on the H/Os and was just an aftermarket accessory hurst/Airheart sold during the time.

This is a Summit digital multi spark CD ignition box with the Summit logo removed and replaced by a Hurst/Olds insignia.

the '74 W-30's automatically came with electronic ignition, but I've never really paid attention to what it looked like. Anyone know?
Also, could you special order it for any '74 ?
100 bucks says mine is probably aftermarket...

Atdog, the W30s came with the HEI distributor (first year for it) which differs from the standard points distributor in the the Y77 cars.

To my knowlege, all H/O's through 1973 came through with points. The 1974 W-30's had the GM HEI, and the 1974 350's had points. In 1975 and to the 1984's, they all had the HEI.
The unit pictured is an aftermarket as noted, not a stock/production part.

Actually, the 1974 W-30's came with both points and HEI. Cars after May 1, 1974 had HEI, cars before May 1. like mine, produced 04/09/74 came with standard ignition.
** Correction meant to say Non W-30 Cutlass 455's came with both points and HEI, Cars after May 1, 1974 had HEI and cars b4 had standard ignition, mine produced on 04/09/74 still had HEI as that was part of the W-30 pkg.

Geeze, I have to learn to read before I hit enter. :)
Anyway, was trying to say I believe Chepsk8 is right, 74 W-30's had the HEI as that was part of the pkg.
