Hello. I am finding out that there is a BIG difference between what I want for my engine in my 75 Supreme (350) and what I can afford ! (or at least get the wife to agree to). The original plan was for forged flat tops, performer intake, and a cam. I already have duals. This car will not be raced, and is for crusing/pleasure but it needs some balls. It has 2:73 gears which would be good for hiway driving.
I have a pair of 7a heads that I was planning to put on it. What would my comp ratio be if I use the stock pistons? Will those pistons be ok for the street? How much could I expect to gain with that and a performer intake? You guys have much more experience with this than I do,(no I'm not 16,but this is my first build)What do you think?
By the way if anyone has a set of flat tops laying around that you want to sell me REALLY cheap, I would be intrested. :) Thanks a lot.

I too am in the same boat as you, wife and kids with lots of dreams with not so much money.
There's lots information out there that help with go fast parts on a budjet.
I have a 73 350 and I went with factory #5 heads.
have a read through 442.com

Having a "car" budget sucks! :(

to not waste time with performer intake. it is basically same as stock only aluminum. stock pistons and 7a heads will give you about 8.5 to 8.0 to 1 compression. Basically same as a 72 350

Get a cam around 204/214 dur and 450-465 lift, best bet is to call someone like BTR or FCR and get your cam. They will help you pick the right cam and get you good QUALITY PARTS so you do not waste your money

Dick Miller Racing can assist you with any questions about your cam, intake, piston choices. As well as compression ratio issues he is in Hernando Missisippi. You can see past atricles in Popular Hotrodding about his engines.
Good luck with your build!!
