I would have never guessed that this would sell for this much money.

That looks like something that could be easily [cheaply] reproduced, if they're bringing that kind of coin, I'm sure one of the company's that's already starting to repop stuff for our cars will jump on this one. Hell, I'm pretty sure I could handle that one :D .

Yeah, after I saw an NOS positive battery cable go for over $300, I have been researching how to reproduce them myself. Check out www.transamdepot.com. They are starting to repop alot of items of which some of them can and do fit our cars.

I had a set. I just looked. I sold them.:(
Nice to see someone else has a sickness for that same car. A friend had a 79. He bought it new. I remember the window sticker flapping on the window, with the window down a bit at over 100 mph. the night he got it. (Needle was buried down into the "seatbelt fasten" light) The 400 T/A 6.6, non-air, W-S6, 4-sp..... Crazy, fun car! :D The first set of tires in two months time. After an amazing amount of "questionable warranty work" was done , he sold it.
I hope no one got killed in that car. For who ever got it after him.
I grew up in a pretty nice neighborhood in Dallas. The next door neighbor was Charley Pride of country western fame. His younger son turned 18 in 1979 and he got a 10th anniversary T/A for his birthday. He was my best friend at that time. We did pretty much the same exact thing you describe, with, I think, about 14 miles on the car. I always had Z/28s back then and called the T/As Trash Cans instead of Trans Ams. I had more respect for them after seeing (and handing out some of) the abuse that car handled. I must have, I own 3 Trans Ams currently.
I could tell you about the older sons' 74 Laguna S-3 with a 454 and 4 speed and the neighbor on the other side of Charley that was a young lady with the last name of Firestone, a member of the famous tire and rubber family. She had a silver 74 Formula with a SD455 in it. She smoked in it like crazy and treated it like just another Firebird. I often wonder what happened to those old neighborhood cars.

Did you see the `76-`77 Cutlass NOS back up light lens assemblies on ebay? Two different auctions, one for the LH side and one for the RH side. The auctions are not over yet, and they are at $175 PER SIDE!!!  That's just C R A Z Y !!!

Well unfortunately with our cars getting recognition, the price of parts will go threw the roof. Get what ya can get before the greedy get involved!

The other day I found a GM dealer that had 2 73-77 nos battery hold down brackets, when I called to buy them, he said that he just sold them a few minutes earlier! What a bummer!!
