If anybody is looking for a great shop to rebuild and restore their quadrajet or other carb, I can highly recommend Bob at Competition Carburetion. He did a great job on my quad with a three week turn around. Looks and runs better than new. Check out:

May I ask what was done to it and how much it cost?

dismantle, clean, rebush all shafts, surface all flats, bead blast all parts, recolor body, replate all steel parts, reassemble, run and adjust on a test engine to your car's specifications, cam, gears, etc....about $450

Ouch! that hurts my wallet just thinking about it. But I guess you get what you pay for. New quadrajets perform better than a fuel infected.

an eBay rebuild probably around 250 but you don't know what you're getting
this guy does a rebuild for 320-370 which is fair to me
a restoration by him is about 450, pretty much the same as the post below
I'm sure there are others out there, but I've heard of this guy in other forums with positive feedback

DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!

He ripped me off big time. stole my last quadrajet. Said he never heard back from me (LIE) so he used it for parts. They never once called me and they had my phone number and email. They never answer their phone, their voicemail doesnt work and most of the time its just a busy signal. he said "oh were in our busy season and thats why we dont answer the phone". Meanwhile it was December when I mailed it to him. If December is your busy season then Id be hating life come april may june.

after being ripped off before, I almost dont trust any shop that I cant walk into. That way when they try to Fluck me, I can make it personal. Its tough recourse when someone is 5000 miles away.

This sounds similar to my situation with the trans for my mustang. Says its fixed but the guy removing broken bolts has'nt returned it yet. After going down there tues. says he'll have it back by thurs. we'll see. Oh, he"s only had it since June too.

When I contacted Cliff's High Performance Quadrajets about restoration, he said he was backed up for the next 11 months, I could get on his list and he would call me back. Right, do some folks just not want your business. Comp Carbs turned mine around in 3 weeks.
