Anybody try them yet? No crossover and supposedly better flow.

Just put a set on my 67 Cutlass convertible. I called Troy and asked if he had any blem sets, he did and sold me a set at a $20 discount and I couldn't really even tell where the appearance defect was when I had them laying on the bench, let alone installed in the car. I treated them with a double coat of Calyx and installed them. I've put about 500 or 600 miles on the car in the last month or so making sure everything is broken in and working on the new drivetrain. The engine is a 68 350 block with #8 heads. The manifolds sound a little louder than stock manifolds but not as loud as headers. They do hold quite a bit of underhood heat for awhile after parking the car. They don't cool off quicker like headers. This really matters here in Texas with 30 something days of 100 plus degree weather going on right now. If you put the car away in the garage with out letting it cool down, it keeps it extra sauna-ey inside the garage all night long and since my garage is attached to the house I don't need ANY extra help keeping the house hot right now. Otherwise the fit was excellent with no sealing problems whatsoever. I'd buy them again. I got a picture of both sides installed on the day it went to the exhaust shop. The exhaust guys were impressed with the quality of the manifolds and I don't think they would have believed they were aftermarket if I hadn't shown them the Thorton name in the casting. Buy some.

Thanks for the info Tex. They look good. I think I'll purchase. By the way, '67 is my favorite year Cutlass. Almost bought a super clean one 6-7 years ago. 4 door six cylinder, blue with vinyl top. Would have kept it stock and have something different. Got my 76 instead because the 67 was complete and I wanted something to "wrench on". Now I can't afford to! LOL. Oh well.

i ask this question on another site a couple months back. it was pointed out to me that for the most part they are not worth the money. that was before i seen a set for myself. a friend got a set since then and decided not to use them so i put them on my Rallye 350. now that i have seen them i can't possibly see how they can help performance in any way. i don't think there is a single post on the net that can prove they help performance from a dyno. i would have to see proof from a dyno before i would believe they help performance. as for quality, i do feel they were well made for long life and should hold up well.

Over stock small block Olds manifolds with a block off or run into a single exhaust, or headers? I think they give a performance gain over stock manifolds, they look to have more volume than the stock SBO manifolds I removed and have a bigger outlet too. I don't see how they can't flow more air which equals higher HP in my book. I think headers provide more of a gain than these manifolds, of course, but the only SBO headers I could find for the 67 Cutlass are Sanderson's and a coated set retails for twice what these manifolds ran me. That made them worth the money to me. I don't have a dyno to do a head to head comparision but by the seat of the pants feel I'd say they certainly help over the old stubby block off and cruddy manifolds that I removed. It may not be a BIG gain but I'll take what I can get. Got any pics to post of that Rallye 350?:)

sorry, i was thinking of the OP when i typed it. i didn't mean to offend anyone that all ready had them by my opinion. the biggest part that had me concerned was the short little divider between the two center ports. looks like that is more of a flow block for the front two cylinders. the outlets are bigger but the stock ones can be bored to be the same way. if you look in the end of the outlet you can see that they bored them also. again, this is just my opinion. i can say that i had a better seat of the pants feel but when i put these on i did several other things at the same time so i have no idea what just the manifolds did.
i will post a couple pics of my Rallye 350 later tonight.

No need to apologize, I'm not offended. I don't care what anyone thinks about the parts I buy or why I buy them. I like them and that is all that matters to me. I was just pointing out that I THINK they are better than stock small block manifolds. WTF is the OP?
Now, I might be offended that you pulled the 4 speed in your Rallye 350 but not about what your opinion on a subject may be.:D Thanks for posting those pics, very nice car. I've always liked the Rallye 350s.

OP is original post. as for the 4 speed, i get that alot. lol
i have never like driving manual cars, i even tried to trade my Rallye 350 in high school to a guy that had one that was automatic. he said the same thing, he didn't want a 4 speed car. now i am glad he didn't trade but that is only because of this being my original car. i will make it original again someday.
