I have a question.
Is there a way to identify whether or not the TH350 out of my 77 442 will bolt up to a chevy 350 block?
I've heard that there were universal bell housing patterns so that GM could use them in buick pontiac olds and chevy's
Anyone have any info on this? I have a guy that's looking for a TH350 and asked if it would bolt up.
I know they also make adapters. Has anyone had any experience with this?

you can look up pictures of a universal belhouseing unit.. its easy to tell they have the saddle like one that bop trannys came with and also the higher ones that bolt on to chevy. the adapter plates are decent they work good a buddy of mine used one and no complaints but i would recomend just buying a chevy th350 they arnt to expensive

The transmission shops call the Chevy/BOP trannys "pigs" easily identifiable because it has more than 6 mounting holes to the block and It has the Chevy hump between the 2 top mounting holes as well as the BOP dip between the 2 upper mounting holes. Ive been told they are sorta rare, but I could be wrong. I do know that i have a "pig" in my 77 Cutlass 403. Just my 2 cents.
