Well, I haven't been able to pry the back seat out of my "S" yet to get the build sheet, but I DID look over the options list for 1977. Judging by that, my car MAY have the following options. How can I tell?
- PA1 Deluxe wheel disks - what's this?
- sports console - is this the center console I see in most Salon's?
- deluxe seat belts - how do I know if my seat belts are "normal" or "deluxe"?
- Special bumpers - how do I know if my bumpers are special ?
- Compaticolor - what's this?
- A01 Tinted Windows - I'm only 25, so in my mind tinted windows are almost black and cannot be seen through, and I've never seen a Cutlass with such tint. SO, I'm guessing it's a mild tint of some kind? How do I tell if I have this?
- floor mats - can anyone send a pic of a "real" floor mat for comparison? Does this mean just front mats, or both front and back?

The deluxe seat belts were color-keyed, while the standard ones were black. As far as I know that's the only difference.
Compaticolor has something to do with the interior. I think it was something to do with the two-color interiors.

Deluxe wheel disks is just a fancy name for the full rim hubcaps.
Sports console is indeed the center console with the shifter and storage compartments. Option code is D55.
Deluxe seat belts - Don't know exactly what they did in `77. In `73 and `74 the basic belts had black plastic buckles, and the deluxe belts had metal buckles. As far as I know the seat belt webbing still matched the interior of the car. Someone may know more than me about this one!
Special bumpers - I do know that for `76 and `77 the Supreme and Salons (and station wagons) had a white stripe in the impact strips on the ft. and rr. bumpers, while the S and 442's were plain black.
Compaticolor does indeed refer to the two tone interiors. For example, if a car was painted red and had a red and white "compaticolor" interior, the seats, most interior plastic, door panels, and headliner would be white, and the carpet, dash, steering column, seat belts, package tray, kick panels, and console (if equipped) would be firethorn red. Compaticolor interiors were started in 1974. Two tone interiors before 1974 were just black and white. Compaticolor interiors were always white with red, maroon, green, blue, or buckskin (tan) accents. Black was still available too. There may be additional ones, but those are the colors I know of.
Tinted windows - option code A01. Cutlasses were available with 100% clear windows or "tinted" windows which is a light greenish tint. You could order the car with all windows tinted or just the windshield. Most Cutlasses of our era had tinted windows. The tint helped a little but not much with sun glare. Put a plain white piece of paper up to one of your side windows. Look through the window and if the paper has a greenish tint to it, you've got tinted windows.
Floor mats- Sorry I don't have an example of an original mat. As far as I know, when someone ordered floor mats, they got both fronts and rears.
Hope this helps! :D

The floor mats are being reproduced. I posted about them with a picture under the thread Reproduction Floor Mats. I'll send it to the top. The mats look like GM originals in every way. Check www. transamdepot.com
They are worth the money.

Hmm, maybe that was it. I remember seeing something that made me know for sure that I had deluxe belts. I thought it was the webbing color, but I can't recall where I saw it.

That '77 Cutlass S "Dakotan" on eBay has black seatbelts with black plastic buckles. Looks like we were both right.

Compaticolour in my case: My dash, carpets, seat belts, seat belt retractor cover, floor console, kick panels, and rear tray are blue or compaticolour TA3. The door panels, seats, trim, and headliner are white.

Somewhere on the 'net I remember seeing a list of '77 options with prices... anyone remember where I can find this?
And, as some of you know, I found my build sheet a while back- the car has next to nothing! I love it. Floor mats, vinyl top, driver's mirror, 15" radials, an AM-FM mono radio w/windshield antenna and a light group! That's probably how I would have ordered it if I had been born 20 years earlier (although I would have just gotten an AM radio w/fender antenna and replaced floor mats and light group with a floor shifter).
