That black piece below the radiator that you can see in the photo in the front how hard is that to paint, if it can be painted at all?

anything can be painted... but it is rubber so if it were to flex, the paint may chip or crack. I personally would scrub it with a firm brush and soapy water then armor-all it

Or you could add flex to the paint. The additive is designed for these type of parts on autos.

experimenting on cars is always an option and can actually be pretty cool when it works out.

I would not paint it. The risk is paint adhesion problems and chipping peeling paint later. Here's the trick I would use - Clean it very well with a good cleaner like Fantastik, 409, Simple Green, etc. Rinse throroughly with plenty of water and let dry completely. Then apply Mother's Back To Black. The stuff is amazing. The air dam with look new. Works great on fan shrouds, inner fender panels, and bumper impact strips too!

Lets hope nobody rips my idea:) The plan is to either paint Oldsmobile on it or bring in to my work and have them water jet Oldsmobile in it:D.You got to say its not a bad idea

It may be hard to see any script on the bottom of that air deflector once the bumper is installed. Thats not to say it would not look unique/cool, just hard to see it with scripting on it that low to the ground.
Be fun to see how it comes out anyhow.. why not right?

Interesting idea... I like the subtle touches owners come up with to make the car unique. I do agree with Pete though that the Oldsmobile script on the air dam may be very hard to see when the car is put together. Try it with a sheet of paper, a black marker, and some masking tape to see how well you can see it. I think someone would have to be a long ways away from the car to be at the right perspective to see it. I crawl under the front of my race car alot to connect the winch cable when the car gets towed around and believe me it's a long ways under there! Our cars have long front ends! Again, cool idea, just want to save you some work beforehand.
