I'm running 10w30 on a new rebuild and when the car is at idle the oil pressure gauge is reading 60psi, 25psi when in gear and idle and 40-45psi when cruising around. Does this sound like I'm where I should be? I'm using a stock oil pump and have .003 clearance at the mains and .002 on the rods.

So let me get this straight, it drops from 60 to 25 when you put it in gear and has 45 cruising, so it has less at cruise rpm than it does at idle in park?

My guess is he means 60 PSI in park at idle when engine is cold, and 25 PSI in gear at idle after engine is warm. That's the only way I can see such a pressure drop.
The 455 in my 442 has about 55 PSI in park at idle with a cold engine and about 50 PSI in park at idle with a warm engine. In gear at idle with a warm engine it's about 30 to 35 PSI. It's about 45 PSI with a warm engine driving around. The oil is a partial synthetic racing oil, 10W-30 viscosity, and the oil pump is a stock Melling.

Gary you interpreted correctly. When the engine is cold and sitting at idle it's about 60psi, it's around 50psi when warmed up. When it's warm in gear at a stop light, it's 25psi. Warm driving around 40-45psi. It sounds like my pressures are right around what you have. Thanks

I have a high volume pump that pushes about 65 when racing or cruising and about 65 idleing in park and about 45 when idleing in gear

I guess depending on stock or built motor I think 10-30 is too thin for the built motor ok for stock. 25 at idle seems low but I'm no expert. You could bump up to 15-40 if you want more pressure at idle.

I personally run 20-50 but this is for a race car but with as hot as Oldsmobiles tend to run 10-30 gets thin really quick
