Hey all: looks like my '77 S will have to spend at least part of the winter outside (long story). SO- being a non-fuel injected car, what should I do to make a cold start every day easier? I leave for work around 2pm, so it won't be as cold as the morning, but I'd still like to do what's best for the engine, AND won't take 20 min. to start. Ideas? I should mention that I have the 231 V6 and a 3-speed manual.

By the by, I found a great article today in Popular Cars magazine (1976?) about getting more power out of this engine. Anyone who wants copies, email me!

In England we can sell cold ice and wet I don't think you have any problem if you are tuned good. I would use a light oil for cold to get a fast crank of the engine. Andy

Make sure your car is properly tuned and has a good battery with a high rating of cold cranking amps. A lightweight oil as Andy suggested is a good idea. I'd use a partial synthetic (synthetic blend) for cold weather flowability. Speaking of oil, if you haven't already done so, check out the thread Oil Discussion- Part II, for info on today's oils in older engines.

You'll be in good shape. My `74 Supreme (350 V-8) was a daily driver for 10 years and rarely saw a garage. Started up just fine on the coldest and hottest of days.
