Need advice before I make a move. I have a set of Rallye Wheels from a 76 Cutlass that I am wanting to put on a 84 Delta 88 two-door. Here is my question will the rallye wheels fit the Delta? Both sets of wheels are 15 inch. Here is the reason I am asking this question. I had a 1983 delta 98 parts car, and one of my tires on the 88 went flat so I just took one off the 98 and put it on. Worked fine for a day or so then one day it just started shimming and bouncing. Stoped to look at it and noticed the lug nuts were starting to back off, well i tried to tightin them back up but they would not tighten, so i tried to take the wheel off and put the spare tire on. As soon as i tried to take off the lugs the bolts started breaking off. I thought all 15in would work on other 15in.? Just need to know if i can put these rallye wheels on that car? Any help would be appricated.
Thanks

I put 15" ralleys on my 84 Delta 88 with no issues. They came from my 77 442. The bolt pattern is 5 on 4.75. I do remember some of the older 98(77-79) had the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Not quite sure about the early eighties 98s. I would imagine they had the 5 on 4.75?

I don't think it is the bolt pattern. The studs would not line up with the holes in the wheels in regards to a 5 on 5 big car pattern and the smaller 4 3/4 pattern. Or maybe and most likely, when you changed the wheel it wasn't tightened as much as you thought. It loosened up and the shimmying wheel caused the threads to get boogered up, which is why the nuts wouldn't tighten back down, and when you tried to remove the nuts, the studs worn and now weakened from the loose wheel wear, and the attempt at tightening back on the boogered threads caused the broken studs. OR MAYBE someone wants you dead and loosened your lug nuts while you were in the Kwik E Mart, hoping your wheel would fall off and cause your demise.

Oh yeah and the chrome 15 inch wheels on my 76 442 came from a mid 80's 4 door 88 and they fit just fine.

When I was looking for rims for the Salon I found out that any Cutlass rim from '73-'88 (Rear wheel drive) will fit. The rear wheel drive Delta 88 will also fit, except the wagons, which use the big car (Olds 98, Caddy, Buick Electra etc) bolt circle which is different from the Cutlas, GP, Monte Carlo etc. As you used a rim from the 98, I'm not even sure how you were able to bolt it on in the first place.

My SSII wheels fit on my Vette and vice-versa with the Vette aluminum wheels on the 442. I've seen SS wheels on mid 80's GM cars.
