Are these the correct exhaust tips for our '73 H/O's? If they are, then they are probably worth quite a bit, as I understand they are no longer available. If anyone does have a lead for some, let me know, as the originals on my car are long gone.

I believe the 74 H/O extensions are the same units as a 68-69 Corvette which are reproduced in stainless as well as chrome. Are the 73 units the same as a 73 Pontiac Grand Am?

70-73 Corvettes had the rectangular tips. 74 had just plain steel turndowns, as that was the first year for the rubber tail.

Here is a picture of the '68-'69 Corvette exhaust tips that look a lot like the '74 H/O units.

The picture that was sent was from Zip Products. I was told at one time that the H/O units had more slots at the back. I don't know if this was true or not.

Well, now that we have the '74 tips pretty much figured out, what about the '73 H/O exhaust tips? If someone is going to reproduce them, I'd be interested in a set.
In regard to them being the same as the ones on the '73 Pontiac, I checked the recent Performance Years catalog, and they don't list them. They do however list them in a 2005 catalog as part #PYR73 at $109/pair. I'm not certain they are correct, so will wait until I get a definite answer, or someone bites the bullet and has them reproduced.

The exhaust extensions for the '73 Grand Am, LeMans, GTO are reproduced by Original Parts Group, part number G221536. These are the closest thing to the correct '73 H/O units that you can buy off the shelf, but they are not exact in the mounting. I believe the originals had a keyway type of mounting to the tailpipe.

Thanks Jim. Even if the mounting is different, it's still better than what I have now.

The 1973 Hurst Olds tips were longer and had a right and left because of the angle put on them at their ends. 1973s are the big money tips in NOS. I have some used originals. Nothing that I would put on a car mind you, but perfect to use as a pattern. Before I sold my 73 Hurst Olds I had one set made off them for my car out of stainless. They came out great just like the originals in appearance.

Ahh, once again, you beat me to it. Performance Years Pontiac was reproducing them. They stopped due to lack of sales. I never bought a set so I don`t know how they fit or look.

That`s ineresting. I did`nt know that OPG was making them. Back in 89-90 I had a chance to buy a set of NOS tailpipes with the tips from my old boss ( he is a GTO guy ) for like a $100.00. I passed because I thought it was too much $.:o :( They went to a well known 73 GTO guy in his club. Still kicking myself for that one.

I couldnt find a set that were affordable. I went with tips that looked like chromes stock cutlass ends. They only point down 2 inches. barely can see them. Till I get the correct looking ones ! I want a set Bob.. Wait Ill need 2 eventually... Joe

I was bidding on a set of 73 NOS tips this week on ebay. I bid them to 325, plus shipping. The sold for 535, plus shipping. So, YES I would be very interested in a reproduction run of the 73 tips. mark me down for two pair!

Could not find the above part at OPG, but did find part KR00025 which appears similar. Any thoughts?

The price for a pair is $250 plus shipping $15-20. Hangers can be purchased from any NAPA store at around $7 each to mount in the existing original mounting holes on your car's frame.
I'm not selling them I just cut and pasted what he had already posted about the price. Guess you missed it.
