Does anyone know a good paint product in a spray can that best matches the gold color on the Hurst wheels? 75 H-O if it matters. Thanks!

OK, thanks for the info...that is a good start. Not sure if I was misunderstood about my "if it matters" comment...you seemed to take offense to it. I am new to the H-O's, and I have no earthly clue as to if the colors of the gold changed from year to year. So, I was stating the year, in case it made a difference. Thanks.

Bob, I just bought some wheel paint using the 79 HO code Ditzler 24430. I should have asked here first. Is the 79 gold the same as the 73 gold?

No it has a different mix code. And is a different color. My 79 Hurst Olds wheels look much different than the wheels on my 1976. As well as the other code given for the upper body gold on the 79. Remember that 1979 Hurst Olds was an Oldsmobile assembly line built car complete. Hurst supplied the shifter and emblems only.

A guy contacted me about gold paint for his Pontiac Grand Prix SSJ. He sanded down to the car's original finish. He found that Firefrost for 73-75 Hurst Olds was a spot on match on his car.

Also I'm told that Lansing used R&M paint originally. But remember all paint ages differently because of the conditions in which it is stored and has seen. That being said the colors might look different car to car and is just the nature of the beast.

73-75 Firefrost looks like a golden Guinness draft in the mix cup.

Crazy looking stuff Man!......

Do not spray Guinness on your car's wheels! LOL

There is a better use for that stuff. :D

When I was in 8th grade in 1976 one of our neighbors had a Hurst Grand Prix SSJ, black and gold with a Pontiac 455. That car was loaded with every conceivable option. I used to go over to their house and just sit in the car when it was parked in the garage. I always told them if they ever sold it I would buy it.(I had a paper route so of course I figured I could buy it, even at 13 years old) When the owner's son got his drivers license at 16 in 1984, his dad gave him the car, he drove it for about a week and then traded it in at one of the local Ford dealers on a brand new red 84 Mustang GT.(I always thought,"What a fool.") I understand the dealer kept the GP. It was always garaged and one owner with about 60,000 miles. I have never seen another like it. I always wonder what happened to that car. It is the car that led me to discover that Hurst had a hand in other cars and led to me buying my 74 H/O when I was 16, using $1800 of my hard earned paper route money.
