I'm in the process of rebuilding a 73 Cutlass S.
Complete body off restoration.
Can anyone help with the correct placement and orientation of the body mounts to the frame?
The mounts I purchased from "The Parts Place" have the GM part numbers on them and also identified with a color coding, eg "GOLD, etc..".
I'm not yet at that point, but I want to be sure I have it before hand.
Thanks in advance
Joe

I've had lots of trouble with the parts place kit, or I could say any kit available for our cars.
There wasn't any uniform kit for the 73-77 A-Bodies, every year, every model had it's own combination.
Somebody came out with a kit and now you can find it even as aftermaket product.
Everybody sells this incorrect kit.
However, I've managed to find original GM orange mounts to complete the kit to more or less factory specifications.

WOW
I didn't realize this could be such a difficult task.
ZolaV8, where did you finally end up purchasing them?
I may still put these on my car, as I've completely redone the suspension anyway, so the car will feel and ride totally different then what I remember 12 years ago.
Joe, have you sent the info .
Who ever said said it was a labour of love?

I've bought the parts place kit and found the orange ones at gmpartsdirect.
Except for the front two pairs now I have the correct bushings.
However I built the suspension with poly suspension parts, dropped spindles, rear lowering springs, 17" wheels, so the original ride is long gone.

Seems that the parts Place doesn't know what goes on our cars. My set has the correct ones for the 3, 4 , 6 & 7 location. Luckily I have a set of 5's stil in good shape. The 1 & 2 red I believe are going to be a big problem!

This is what happens when no one complains to the companies selling this crap!
ME:
This week I bought the 73-77 body bushing kit HB2132Z and bolt kit
along with paint. This kit is not right for a 73 Cutlass as it states. Three
sets(6 bushings)are wrong. I have matched them against all 3 cars I own and my parts book. There are no bushings for the # 1,2 & 5 location on the frame. How is this
possible or do you expect me to just use the ones you sent instead of the
correct ones or perhaps this is a mistake in packaging them? Thanks Joe
Parts Place:
We went by the GM parts book when we made these kits. It is all listed and
we have sold a bunch of these kits without problems. If you are unable to
use that kit, you are more than welcome to send it back with a copy of your
invoice and a note.
Thanks

so what are we gonna do? fusicks has the wrong set as well and these seem to be the only places to get them. all of my stock mounts are crap. hell i even thought of just using hockey pucks but that would be one stiff ass ride.

I have a set I also bought from The Parts Place.
I will return them at the same time you return yours if you do, but I have no other source for these.
Any suggestions?
I do know that some of them are still available from GM.

I used the Fusick set and hunted until I found NOS for the others that weren't correct. It took awhile to find them. I re-used the #5s, they were still nice. It made a HUGE difference in the ride height and quality in my car.

I'm not sure sending them back is the answer. As you all know no one else makes them! I am hoping that maybe a few other people hit the contact button on there page & tell them the same thing. I am going to give them the number of the red front 4 I am missing. Is this the same as everyone is missing? I am not familiar with the other years.
They responded to me this afternoon. This is what they wrote.... a little sarcasm to I think:
Please educate us on the part number you want. We can only go by our parts book which lists what came in the kit. If you need other numbers, please let us know and we will see how to proceed.
