Doesn't look like there are any 73-77 olds there but still some good stuff.

"Seven Sons Auto Salvage Public Auction
Forced Liquidation due to Eminent Domain Water Treatment Plant For Mexicans"

Seems they edited it to remove "Water Treatment Plant For Mexicans" idk why
Found a story but doesn't say anything about Mexicans

I am very familiar with this story because this yard is (soon to be was :( ) about 30 miles from me. I checked out his yard a couple of months ago and you would not believe the 50's through 80's era cars he had in there. Acres and acres of cars. Of particular interest to us, there were about 10 74-77 Cutlasses, most were 76's and 77's. Also a bunch of other 73-77 GM A-bodies. More choice parts than I could imagine. The owner wanted alot of money for parts even though he was crushing cars as fast as he could. It really ticked me off knowing these beautiful cars (most pretty much rust free) would be getting turned into razor blades. Looks like he saved a select few for the auction house to sell. Yes, he was forced to sell his land to Metro Wastewater because they are building a new wastewater treatment plant. There has been a large population increase in the area of mostly the Mexican population. Metro Wastewater has determined a new treatment plant has to be built.

I took tons of pictures when I was there so if you want to cry over what he had and most likely got crushed, let me know. It's very depressing, really.

I can't wait. As someone who lives in an area where everything rusts, I can't wait to see pictures of relatively rust free cars that will be crushed.

OK guys... you wanted to see the pics. This is just a VERY small sample of what he had. Not sure what all sold in the auction but chances are close to 100% that the cars in these pics are now CRUSHED!!! The older cars up to 1972 had a better chance of survival but who knows for sure. The amount of parts that are now gone I don't even want to think about. Sigh. The collector car hobby is getting more difficult and our cars are now a little rarer. Like I said before, have a box of Kleenex handy. :(

Here's the title pic and a little sample, the rest are in the link. Notice on the crushed 77 Cutlass, the hood ornament is still on it!!! I created a public Photobucket album. There are 53 pics total. The order kind of got jumbled when the pics uploaded but they should be pretty much by year and by general overview shots of the yard. The owner of the yard told me how many acres he was forced to sell. If I remember right, this junkyard was over 25 acres.

Update for you guys... talked to a friend who went to the auction. He said there were about 300 people there and it was a cold, wet, miserable day. Auction took about 8 hrs. A little over 3/4 of the cars up for auction sold. Prior to the auction the junkyard owner crushed over 2,500 cars! My friend said specifically that the early 70's boat-tail Buick Riv.'s did not sell so those got squashed! The place is closed now and the land is owned by Metro Wastewater District so they can build their new plant.

It really sucks that so much of that history became just that...history! Sniff. I love those old Rivs! Lots of four doors too!
