After about a year of being a member here. Emailing, selling , buying, and reading old past threads for information. I finally have some pics of my 76 cutlass s I recently painted in my garage. Not top show quality paint job, but I think it came out nice for a first time painter. I have half of the car put back together now. I'll post more pics later.

My 1st Cutlass was a maroon '76 'S'.....sigh.......

....and it looks like yours has swivel bucket seats like mine did.

The major difference is mine was a 260 V-8 5-speed. You got way more get-up and go than mine ever had!

LOOKS GREAT from where I sit!:D

I am trying to place that color. Care to share the info? Thought maybe it was a GM paint back in '02 almost a dark cherry met, but looks less metallic

Like the A/C delete cover with rocket symbol. Motor looks real sharp with the '73 style gold paint! As it goes well with the color on the car.
The Argent colored wheels... Leave them.. looks great.

Were you tempted to paint the lower 1/4 with argentpaint & stencil 442, to mimick the typical 442 design?
Looks like you went with your own custom Olds touches and it works, looks darn cool man...

The color is actually called plymouth prowler purple met. My 6 1/2 year old daughter actully picked out the color. She's been right in there helping me for the past 2 years to get this point with the car. She is really into the these and other older style muscle cars. she's always wanting to hit the local cruseins or do something with the car.(at least for now) As for the the bottom, I was going to go with the stencil kit. But decided not to, didn't want to push my luck painting being this was the car I have painted. Worked on many cars, but first one I ever shot paint to. So I found some old 442 emblems that were corride and pitted. Sanded them down and painted and place onto car.

I like it...looks good! Really cool how your daughter likes helping, stretch that out as long as possible! The more kids are involved in positive things makes it less likely for them to get involved in negative things.

You did a great job. Painting a car is hard work (and kind of terrifying at the same time-paints expensive). Doing it in your garage makes it a lot tougher worring about dirt/bugs. Yours came out fantastic. Sweet ride you have there. I just love the color. Under the hood looks great too. Real clean. Did you take the heater out?
