Any one know how to post a registry like the one below? This is my Corvette posted on the Corvette C3 Registry. How about one for the "Forgotten Years" while this site is still new? If I knew how I'd ask permission to do it.
Thoughts?

No we don't have anything like that on this board yet.
DO you know the owner of c3registry.org? I'd like to put something like that on this site.
Thanks

I don't know him. But this is his email. rob.musquetier@itcap.nl Looks like he's in Holland. Perhaps if an owner of one site contacted the owner of another, he may share information?

At one time I had started collecting info on any '76-'77 442's I ran across. This was back in the late 90's or so. I think I had come across about 12 '77 442 owners and like 8 '76 442 owners. Not many people were web based back then. This was before web forums like this. Would be really cool to try to compile a list of all the '73-'77 owners out there. Cutlass, 442, Hurst. I would hope that with today's technology, we could compile something like that.

Any news on the registry?
I think it's a good idea.
I've programmed an Oldsmobile VIN decoder, the Oldsvin a year ago: http://v8cars.hu/oldsvin
That could be a good starting point, but we need tons of facts and extra information to build a page as informative and nice as the corvette registry.

I emailed the guy and asked him about the c3 registry, he hand coded the whole thing and didn't sound like he'd give it away. I'll email him again and see if i can work something out.

Count me in for any information. I have a list of all 1976 Cutlass options and I have the GM parts book for every part for 1973-1977 A body. I have productions numbers for 442's Hurst/Olds'. If I dig I may find production numbers for Cutlasses as well. I'll help where I can.

I've started this.
The login module is finished, we must decide some things before I'm starting the vehicle part.
First of all, everybody should register just their own vehicles or do you want the possibility to register other cars also? (local finds, ebay auctions, etc.)

Cool..thanks for doing this. I emailed the vette registry guy but haven't heard anything.
How are you coding it? Is there any way to use the VBulletin permissions, so your Vbulletin id will log you in to the registry also?
I think it should be able to reg other cars also. and allow the admins to edit all the entry's.
Let me know if you need anything. thanks

That would be nice, but it's not possible, since it's an independent code on an independent database.
I'm hand coding the whole site in php with a mysql database.
The site design is also finished, but I don't want to show even the beta version before the basic vehicle registration is coded. I'll let you know.

1976 Vista Cruiser Station Wagon (J35)
Total Production : 20,560 (includes both 2S and 3S, no separate total numbers)
For all this information, the best books to have are Catalog of Oldsmobile, 442, W-Machine and Hurst/Olds ID Numbers 1964-91. This was put out by Cars and Parts Magazine and it is the most useful book I own to help decipher all those codes.
I got the number totals from Standard Catalog of Oldsmobile 1887-1987 by Chevedden and Kowalke. Also worth owning. Hope this helps.

Nice job Zolav8! I checked out the full page listing and we should add the following options:
GU5 - axle ratio 3:23
GU6 - axle ratio 3:42
W84- Fuel for Delivery
Z95 - Catalytic Converter Deletion
Also the actual name of option Z49 is Mandatory Base Canadian Equipment which in Canada wasn't an option at all, it was...well...mandatory. :D

I can easily add or modify the codes since the list is stored in a mysql database.
It's interesting, that the 1975 Inspector's Guide doesn't list the numbers you show. Maybe those are for '76?
I think the Registry should use separate listings for each model year. At the moment I have info only for 1975, so I'm in trouble with earlier and latter options like the 403 V8 engine, etc.
With this board's help we could compile the listings for all 5 years.
Or should we put every 73-77 option on the same page?

In 1973 and 74 you could order the 3:23 or 3:42 ratio. Perhaps you should leave a space that can be filled for dealer installed options. For example the Corvette could get a rear deck luggage rack, but it was a dealer installation.
My 442 has a 1971-72 W30 aluminum intake (W455) and 3:42 posi that was dealer installed according to the original owner. I tend to believe him because I had owned the car for four months when I called him and he told me the story - it's not like I could return the car at that point if I didn't like the idea of non-optioned parts installed. However, I supposed this option could be abused by people, but I suppose if some one added a 455 to their 350 car and "ticked" off that their car has the 455 option it would be the same. either way, I'm happy that we're moving in the right direction. Great job!

The book I have that I mentioned earlier has all RPOs for each year. I can get them to you if you want. I would also separate them year to year if possible as some of the RPOs differed. Personally though, I think the setup you came up with looks great.

According to "Oldsmobile Muscle Cars" by Holder and Kunz, they have 1900 listed for 74 H/Os in one chapter, and 1800 in another chapter. I don't know if they lumped all ther other cars in the first total. About 100 Delta 88s, two actual pace cars (convertibles), and several station wagons. I think that 380 is not correct. I would go with the 1900. :D

I used my build sheet to register my 76 442 and found these problems to be worked out.
My car has these options that were not listed.
B82-Emblem Delete
GU1- 2.41 Ratio Axl
N41- Pwr Steering (power steering)
QC? (small hole in build sheet, letter unreadable) GR 70X15 W/LYR ( I know it should say W/LTR but it has a typo with a Y on my build sheet)
UN9- Radio Suppre (radio noise suppresor)
U76- W/S Antenna (windshield antenna)
I listed these exactly as they appear on the build sheet written in GM build sheet short hand.
Also on my build sheet the NO5 locking gas cap is listed as a low volume option.
Zolav the registry is really looking fantastic. I can't believe the work you have put in on this. Thank you so much.

I think that there should be an option code for a passenger side remote sport mirror listed. I acquired one from a 73-77 Cutlass in the wrecking yard along with the dash bezel for the mirror control, and it was factory so I know GM offered it at sometime but I don't know the option code.
I was also told by someone and I don't know how accurate they are , that both the 2 speed rear defog and the heated glass defog was offered in the Cutlass. I have never seen a Cutlass S or 442 with heated glass but have seen Supremes and Salons with it(only 77's I think)
I will take some pictures to add to my registration soon. This is really great and if other board members haven't looked at it or registered yet then you have got to take a look. A massive amount of work has been done on this.

I've ordered the Olds ID # Catalog to complete the list, but it takes some time to arrive. Unfortunately it's backordered. :(

Zola we should add the following options and make some small corrections.
Options:
V30 Bumper Guards, Front and Rear with Vinyl Inserts
QCY, Tires, GR70x15 Raised White Letter (RWL)
The series for the 442 for 1976 should be Cutlass S
U21 Guages, Rallye (spelling)
Y60 Lamp and Convenience Group (correct description)
I was also thinking, if it is not to much work, there could be a section where we can upload articles, brochures etc for a specific year. Someone looks up 1976 and can find articles, road tests etc. Since most of us have some literature on our cars, it would be cool to share with others. Just a thought.:D

Posted Options:
I've noticed a few mistakes on the posting of options. For example floor carpeting was standard on the Cutlasses (at least it was in 1976).
If you ordered the 442 (W29) you automatically received the following:
FE2 Rallye Suspension Package
Y74 Mouldings, bright rocker panel and wheel opening
So if we check off W29, we should not be able to check off FE2 or Y74. I've done this.
If you ordered the 442 (W29) you could not order:
B84 Body protective moulding
FG2 Shock Absorbers, Firm Ride
F41 Heavy duty suspension
Y70 Upper body paint stripe
If you ordered N71 or N72 (Super Stock II and III wheels) you could not order
F41 Heavy duty suspension
You could not order D55 floor console unless you ordered M38 or M40 trans.
You could not order QBW tires if you ordered the 455
You could not order QCY tires if you ordered a sedan
The Corvette Registry lists options as follows and it might be a good way to place our options if we get enough information.
Positraction Rear Axle, all ratios ('68,'69)
Power Antenna ('78,'79,'80,'81,'82)
Power Brakes ('68,'69,'70,'71,'72,'73,'74,'75,'76)
Power Door Locks ('78,'79,'80,'81,'82)
Power Driver Seat ('81,'82)
Power Steering ('68,'69,'70,'71,'72,'73,'74,'75,'76)
Power Windows ('68,'69,'70,'71,'72,'73,'74,'75,'76,'77,'78,'79)
Power Windows and Door Locks ('79)
Radio Delete ('80,'81,'82)
Rear Window Defogger ('76,'77,'78,'79,'80,'81,'82)
Rear Window Defroster ('68,'69,'70,'71,'72,'73,'74,'75)
Red Stripe Tires, F70x15, nylon ('68,'69)
For example Power Door Locks were not available on the Corvette in 1976, and it is correctly listed as such. If someone added them, they would knowingly make the selection.
I see some cars in the registry that have indicated options that couldn't have possibly been ordered. I'm guilty too. My car has the Y60 option. I think it includes lights under the hood, in the trunk, glovebox, however I clicked on those options as well. Perhaps it should not allow me to pick those if I pick Y60.
Someone could say they have the M38 & M40. It doesn't make sense. Perhaps if you pick M38 we could make it so if you then pick M40 the M38 would become unchecked. You'd only be allowed to choose one.
Not saying that we (Zola) should do this in one night, just something to move toward. Thoughts?
zolav8

Ken, that's a nice idea, I also had plans to do this, but I have very little info on these rules at the moment.
First of all I have to generate separate option code lists for each model year, so you won't even have the opportunity to check an unavailable option. That would be a far better solution for the problem. Listing model years after an option is not a nice solution at all.
But I still don't have the Olds ID book to do this (backorder). (I also mentioned that the registry is using the 1975 option codes for every car at the moment.)
I don't think anyone will check two transmission options for a car, at least noone who takes this registry seriously. :)
But If we collect these rules I think I could program the automatic option checking/unchecking feature.

I just listed what my cars have now, some of the options I've added and did not come from the factory that way, but most I believe were original equipment. The one thing I did notice is 2 of my cars have strato buckets and I don't see that listed, oh well, it's still a very cool site.

I'll complete the year specific tables as soon as I receive the Oldsmobile id book.

LOL!:D I know just enough to be dangerous. Judging from your restoration on your Supreme, you don't suck when it comes to that! :)
Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence Ken! :)

Received the sales brochures today I'll scan the missing factory images soon.
I'm coding some kind of AI :) in the registry, it checks the list for incompatible options.
No L22 - Engine - 250 CID L6 - 1-Barrel when Y78 - Cutlass Salon Package is ordered.
No FG2 - Firm Ride Shocks or F41 - Suspension - H.D. with W29 - 442 Appear. & Handling Package.
etc.
BTW, do we need a guestbook? What do you think?
I can code one in an hour.

Bert was kind enough to scan and send me the option codes of the Oldsmobile ID Numbers book. Thanks, great help!
However I've compiled the RPO database for each year, and I'm not sure about this.
I think many options aren't listed in this book, for example it doesn't list rear axle ratios for 1976 an 1977, doesn't separate A & B body codes, etc.
I got the 1975 codes from the 1975 Inspectors Guide.
I think this is the most reliable source, since it was issued by Oldsmobile:

Does anybody have this booklet for other years?

Ken advised and I inserted a counter on each vehicle page.
It's the last row under Registration Information.
We have only 28 cars. :(
Please register your Oldsmobiles!

I finally found some inspector's manuals on ebay and was able to purchase them.
I revised the option codes for 1975, 1976 and 1977, so for these three years the registry lists only the options available in the specific year.
Still looking for reliable info on 1973 and 1974, these years currently list every 73-77 option codes.
Please let me know if you have a source for 1973-74 inspector's manuals.

69 and counting............should be alot more, but not too bad. Yea Joe, Zola did a great job, hopefully it will get out to more 73-77 owners. I'm sure some don't want their vehicles listed, but I don't really understand why.

At the house i have the 1973 dealers album. I cant remember everything in it but it is large. If i remember it breaks down what was aval. on each model. I will try to get the family to scan it if that will help? Sometimes its a while between log ons for me as i am in afghanistan right now.
