Under hood insulation

Does anyone know if the hood insulation for a '73-'75 is the same as the '76-'77 hoods? With the hoods being different, I'm curious as I need to replace mine. Fusick offers one, but says its the same for all '73-'77 Cutlass'.

Brad, I got mine for the '76 from the Paddock a few years ago, probably the same thing Fusicks has. BTW, a buddy of mine works for the company that makes the clips that hold it to the hood. If you need some just let me know, I've got a BIG bag of them.

I got mine from REM also it says for 73 -77... Joe

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this. As far as I can see, the 73-75s are different from the 76-77s. I got some pictures, and hopefully you'll be able to see the difference. You can open both attachments and switch back and forth between the two. The 76-77 is more square and has small notches cut out to go around the hood leveler rubber stop things. I'm sure the universal one will be close enough though. I've had the 77 for 15 years, the 73 for 7, and this is the first time I've ever paid any attention to this! Damn, they're dirty under there!! :eek:

I don't know if they are the same for the other GM colonade coupes, but there even appears to be a difference between '73 and '74 at least for the Pontiacs. I just got a copy of Performance Years catalog, and they have a separate part number for the '73 and '74 hood insulation. I'd hang onto the one you have until you can score an NOS piece, or find someone who reproduces them.

I ordered a hood insulation from Fusick, it arrived with a REM tag on it. It was a perfect fit on my '77 442.
