My '75 Salon has a stuck EGR valve, resulting in some stalling and hesitation when cold. A new one will run around $70.00. What would happen if I were to install an EGR block off plate? Will it cause any problems, or just affect the emissions?

I blocked off the egr on my 73 HO. These are prone to failure and like you I did not want to spend the money. I asked around and others have done it. I have not had any problems. Lets see what others have to say.

I think we would be money and performance ahead to install a edelbrock intake.

You can just disconnect it and plug off the vacuum line until you figure out what your going to do.

Tried the disconnect idea already, it seems to be jammed in the open position. And I do want to get an Edelbrock Performer RPM eventually, but not right now, #1 son has a college tuition payment this month (or rather I have a payment, he has the college).

I cut mine out of 1/4 plate with a saws-all and 4 1/2" grinder. Cost $0. Eventually I will install a performer also.
