Trying to get the A/C working on my '76 442. I've got leaks on both of the factory hoses .... from the receiver/dryer to the compressor and from the compressor to the condenser, both right where the rubber hose transitions to solid aluminum tube. Does anybody have a source to buy new hoses? All the local parts stores here in VA are no help. Also need a suction throttle valve, I think the call it a PIO. Any help appreciated.

i know some napa stores make the hoses but you have to pull em off so they know the length.

I had some made yrs back for my 76. I had the hoses made at Fairfax Auto Parts. They have locations all over NOVA.

I have a company here in Akron, Ohio that will take your manifold hose assembly ( which has the rubber hoses on it ) remove the factory crimps and rubber hoses then they measure out new rubber hoses the exact length of yours and the put new crimps on, meanwhile maintaining your stock manifold hose fit and function ! Its relatively inexpensive compared to finding a NOS hose, I have 76oldswarrior sending me his manifold hose from his 76 Cutlass and I'm going to have it redone for him, I will post what the cost was/or will be when we get his done.

Thanks for all the great responses! The local NAPA stores here could not help. Steve, I checked with Fairfax Auto, they can make new hoses if they have the correct size connections in stock but were not able to quote a price until I bring them my hoses. Where are you in VA? I'm in Arlington. Revots, will be interested in seeing what the Ohio company charges, sounds like a good approach as it keeps the stock function and fit. Also checked with Mobile air and supply as Mitchell suggested. They are now Southside Auto Repair. The guy I talked to said they do pretty much what the Ohio company does, they cut the factory connections off, solder them back on a new tube / hose assembly and make a new stock fit hose. Waiting for a call back from the owner with an estimate of cost for both hose. Thanks again guys! Mike

http://http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu16/soumigirl/Picture457.jpgI just took my working air conditioning off a 1976 cutlass supreme, It did not leak, Picture below of what I have, I also have the other line from the condensor. I could not keep belt on car, everytime it went to 6,500 belt was gone. When I cracked the line at the condensor it hissed for quite awhile, air was cold also. Make me an offer if you want on the parts you need. John

Look in your local yellow pages for an automotive A/C supplier. Most have the ability to retrofit old hoses. Your old aluminum parts will probably be reused. And as an FYI, the rubber that was used prior to R-134, does not hold the new refrigerantas well as the new compounds. The new stuff is also better with the oils used with R-134. I had mine redone a couple years ago, and it looks great. It will look even better when I install it!

Hi Pappy86. I am looking for the liquid line from the condenser to the evaporator coil. The liquid line has a loop in it about 3/8 diameter 3 feet long. Are you interested in selling. Your picture did not show on my computer.

Thanks
Mike
