I am tracking 73 HOs in a registry. Some members of this forum are trying to help fill some gaps in the history of the 73 HO. The registry is one way to help do this. If you have a 73 HO and would like to add your car to the registry you can post it or send me a PM or an email to stews73ho@hotmail.com with the VIN, Cowl tag info, interior and exterior color, Hurst number if known, and options.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric I am amazed at how you came up with the number. How many cars do you have registered? Joe

The guy in Texas with the two '73 H/O's is Dr. Kym Pershall. He lives in Lubbock. I spoke with him about 5-6 years ago about his cars, not too long after the article in Musclecar Review. At the time, he had sold the white car, and was asking insane money for the black one. Last time I counted, there were about 30-40 '73 H/O's listed as being owned by members of the HOCA.

I missed it on Ebay, so don't know if it is the same one. When I spoke to him, he said he wasn't really looking to sell it, but might consider it if someone offered him enough money, like '70 W30 type money. When they wrote the article on it, I think it had around 26k miles.

Well guys, all I can say is good luck. I started a registry for 73 H/O`s back in 98. I was trying to keep track of every one that I came across. It`s tough. Most people are very reluctant to give out that kind of information. I gave up a few years later due to my daughters medical needs and lack of time and interest. I do have some info that I wish I could share but I promised those that gave their info that I would`nt release it without thier permission. Unfortunately, I don`t even know how to get ahold of alot of them. Try my buddy Rob in the Chicago area, he goes by 4447ROB or something like that, on ebay. Yes, he is the one who buys up everything. LOL. He owns several 73 H/O`s including a few of my old cars.
As for Kim Pershall, he`s a nice guy. Used to be the 73 H/O adviser. I have`nt talked to him in years. I could be wrong but I think his white car is owned by a guy named Jeff, here in Michigan.
And Randy Mucha. Thats a name I have`nt heard in years. Oh wait, yes I have. :)

He used to be real heavy into the 73 H/O`s then decided to get out of them due to starting a career as a police officer.
Good luck with that. I`ll try to help you as much as I can.

There's a 73 H/O rotting away less than 1 mile from my house. I stopped to ask the guy if he would sell it, and he's waiting for his father to restore it.   It has no engine (because he blew it up with nitrous or something) or transmission and no back window. When I was looking at it, it had leaves 6 inches deep in the back seat with maple trees starting to sprout out of them. There are no salvageable body panels, but the plastic hood louvers were intact? He told me that it was a black car that had a 455 as opposed to the white ones that had 350s...ugh. He said he's let it go for $2500 -3000. By then I had had enough. I had to go or I was going to kill something. I wanted to educate him, but I figured, why bother?

To Bob's point, just getting the info from these would be great. If we can get the info from these cars maybe we can piece some of the puzzle together. Bert, is it possible for you to get the VIN, cowl tag info, and options from this car without getting into trouble?
I have all your info Jon.

1973 H/O trivia; I once owned a white W-45. It was missing the original block, I suspect it had once been in a good wreck and of course had A/C. 3 strikes your out in my book. I did a cosmetic detailing of the car and it was fun and looked sweet. I hated the swivel seats. I really wanted a W-46, but those are very hard to find.
Anyway, when I pulled the rear bumper off, it had "W-45" hand written in crayon on the backside!!! It had the original tailpipes-GOD I should have kept those! I do still have those Tee style bolts that hold them on to the slotted tail pipes.

Eric,
Just want to make sure you have the info from the white H/O in need of restoration that I looked at over the summer in Randolph, NJ. This is the one that had been on Hemmings, I think I sent it to you in August but I can't be sure. Do we know if anyone buy this car yet?
Here is the info for the registry:
VIN # 3G37U3M411105
Cowl Tag:
ST73- 3AG37LAN517251
TR 947 11-11

Thanks,
Dean

I now have 100 cars on my list. I have VINs for 57 cars so I am pursuing VINs for 43 other cars. I seem to get about one or two VINs every month or so. I have 5 V code cars on the list. I have 7 cars with known HO numbers. According to my list it looks like 55% white cars and 45% black cars produced. The "official" numbers are 60% white and 40% black.

Great! I'm glad you stay at it. Otherwise all we would have is speculation, the usual BS and outright lies. :D
