Yep got myself a 455 with th400 & driveshaft, came out of a 71 Delta 88 original motor with 68000 miles. Had it running before I pulled it out and drove it out the driveway of the sellers yard. The rest of the car was junk. Cost me $500 and where I'm to you don't see them foresale. I kind of missed the grunt my big block Chevelle had. So I'm going to pick at it for this year and hopefully install it next spring, can't wait, Now I have to find a posi rear end.

Good score. Trans and driveshaft won't fit your car but good score none the less.

Nice 455 should be a simple swap of the motor if ya get the right tranny and shaft.

The TH-400 long tailshaft transmission from the Delta 88 will fit; you'll just need to drill new holes in the frame of your Cutlass and slide the transmission crossmember back a little bit. The other thing that will need to be modified is the front and intermediate parking brake cables. Inline Tube has new parking brake cables available. You can also use the transmission yoke from the Delta's driveshaft, or have the Delta's driveshaft shortened and the correct end put on it to fit the differential in your Cutlass. For Cutlass at least, the TH-400 driveshafts are larger diameter than the TH-350's.
Overall the engine and trans. conversion is an easy one and a big block Cutlass is fun! :)
Have fun with your project!

I was looking at shortening the driveshaft or get a new one made. I think the holes are already in the frame. Its a project for next spring now I'll just gather up new some parts
to go on it. Finding one here where I live is next to impossible so I had to grab it up, just took me 4 hrs of driving to and from and another couple to remove the motor I'm sure if will be worth it.

The Delta was a good score. Congrats!
There are two sets of holes in the frame of your Cutlass for the transmission crossmember, one set for the TH-350 location and one set for the SHORT shaft TH-400. If a Cutlass had a TH-400, it was a short shaft. If you put a LONG shaft TH-400 in a Cutlass you will have to drill new holes. The short shaft set of holes will not work. I've put long shaft TH-400's in Cutlasses before so trust me, you will have to drill new holes. Not a big deal, just takes a little time to get the alignment right.
Hope this helps.
