Hey all!! Just found the site yesterday - what a find!!:) Glad to see I am not the only one who has a heart for these cars! I posted my car to the vBGarage last night - thanks for the comment ragz442. I am looking for opera window trim, preferably the stainless type, for my 77 Cutlass Supreme, so if anyone has some laying around or knows where I might find some at a reasonable price please let me know. Thanks!!

Welcome to the site! Another Michigander, we're going to catch up with the Texans at this rate :D . Good luck on your opera window trim search, they pop up on ebay alot but not cheap :( . Sometimes you get lucky at the scrap yards, but they're far and few between.

Yeah, I'm a temporary transplant to MI - I'm in the military here in Alpena. Will be retiring from 20 years of active duty in a little over two years and then returning home to Grand Forks, ND. I've seen and bid on a few sets of opera window trim on E-bay, but haven't been the highest bidder!! Any good junkyards in MI?

Dave [sledhead] knows of a junkyard in upper MI. that had some mid year cars/parts. Dave, if you read this, where's that place at?
How do you like Alpena? My Grandparents lived in East Tawas during their retirement years, I use to love going up there in the 70's.

Alpena's cool - nice smaller town with most everything a person needs to get by these days. The economy is kinda struggling right now, but that is true for most of Michigan from what I have seen and heard. My wife and I are small town fans, so Alpena fits the bill in that department.

Again welcome to the site. I have lived in northern Mich for the last 15yrs and in Mich almost all my live expect for military service. Great to see so many michigander's finding this site. There are a lot of good people on this site with a lot of knowledge. If you need something just ask and someone will have it. What color of interior do you have and how long have you had your car? Good luck

When I think of Michigan I remember driving with the caravan to Lansing for the 100th Anniversary of Oldsmobile. The Oldsmobile spokesperson (she was a woman) said we'd be driving from Tinley Park, IL. to Lansing non stop. I called her on my CB and said that some of the 455 cars won't make it all the way. She said there were too many cars to stop at one place and we'd have to get gas on our own.
I told this fellow from California who was in front of me in the caravan to save my spot as I need to get gas. The caravan was moving at 60 mph. We crossed the Michigan border and I pulled off at a rest stop. I filled up and an now tried to catch the caravan. I hit 100 mph and kept here there. Suddenly I see a Michigan State police car in between the east and west interstate and it was too late, he saw me and I could see him leaving the "ditch" as he started after me.
He did not put on his red and blue lights so I didn't slow down. I wanted to catch the caravan. Finally I see the caravan and I call Kevin (the fellow from Calif.) and asked him to open up a spot for me. He slowed down and I eased into the caravan. The state tropper pulls up along side of me and both officers look over at me. We're now doing the same speed. Both guys smile, give me the thumbs up flip on the roof lights and race ahead. Then I hear on the CB "Our Michigan police escort is here". That was so cool. Michigan is a cool place.
Oh, BTW. welcome HVNLY77.:D

Welcome! About those SS Quarter glass trim, does anyone know if the trim from other GMs will fit? A freind of mine has a '74 Grand Prix and the glass trim looks like it's the same. I've got both SS and plastic trim so I'll do a compare on the Pontiac.

Ken, he probably let you go because your from Canada. If you would have had MI plates, you wouldn't have been so lucky ;) :D .
As far as the Grand Prix trim fitting the Cutlass, it's my understanding it's different.

Thanks all for the welcome to the forum. I have read the quarter window trim differs between Cutlass and the others (Monte Carlo, Grand Prix & Regal), but I have never compared any of them to the Cutlass trim to verify. Cool story about the MSP, 442MUCH. As for my service, I spent 17 years as regular active duty Air Force and transferred to Active Guard at Phelps-Collins Air National Guard Base in Alpena late last year - still 24/7 military with same pay & benefits:D , just a different component of the total force.
