I bought a 7 quart oil pan from a well known olds person who said it would not hit, and it hits my steering linkage, about 1 inch across the middle of the bottom of the pan, car has only 46,000 easy miles is there a easy fix for this. Car is a 1976 cutlass supreme with 350 motor. thanks

Is it just slightly hitting it? My first instinct would be to make some clearance with a hammer like some headers seem to need. I really hate to hit nice new parts with a hammer though. I would be interested in seeing a picture of it to see how it fits. It seems like this should be a very simple bolt on.

It is barely hitting, I am going to try new motor mounts tonight.

I wonder if it would just be the tranny mount. Those seem to deteriorate much more often than the motor mounts; especially with only 46k miles. You may be able to shim the trans mount too to get some clearance. I don't know if the driveshaft will like it but it might be ok.

even though the car is low mileage the parts are 30 some years old. I bet the motor mounts and trans mount are worn and sagging causing the engine to sit slightly lower than it should...
