Hello Everyone!

My name is Scott and I live in Ohio. I have been a longtime fan of these cars as I have been around them since I was a kid. My aunt and uncle bought a new 76 442, silver with red stripe and interior. My dad has owned many, many cars and will explain my love for the 76 in a bit (lengthy explanation that all will like), and my first year out of high school I bought a 76 442, red with white stripe (pic in vBGarage) from the original owners. My best friend from high school actually was friends of the owners' son and got to ride to grade school in this car when he was a kid. He sat in my car before I did. I also owned a silver/black stripe 77 442 that I bought, detailed, put tires and new exhaust on and sold it in 3 months to help fund my college education. I think I would get more use from the cars now than I do the education. Ah, hindsight.

Now to my Dad's 76. I was born in Great Falls, Montana in 1971 because my Dad was stationed there in the Air Force. I came home from the hospital in a 67 Chevelle SS 396, grew up in a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 (only recall these cars via photos). The first car I remember is my Dad's 1976 Cutlass Supreme 'Edge'. This was one of the regional versions that was available at the time. There were 200 'Edge' versions built. They were all silver. They built 100 that you could get one with black interior, white vinyl top, and a black rocker stripe with the word 'Edge' in the stripe on the door. The stripe ran from the front wheel well to the rear. The other 100 were silver with white interior, black vinyl top and a white 'Edge' stripe. This car had the wide tail light like the 442's, had the wide slat, squared nose (not sure how to describe it but to call it a squared 76 442 nose), with a 350 rocket. I am trying desperately to get pictures of this car, but the only one my Mom says she has is when it got stuck in the sand at Daytona Beach and she won't relinquish it yet, due to obvious embarrassment. I have a picture of me standing in front of it that shows the nose, but none that show the side with the special details. Anywany, there was one of each on the lot that day and my Dad chose the one with the black interior. My parents, even through a divorce, had this car until I was 15! So close to getting the car, but my Mom said it was too much for me at such a young age. She sold it locally to our insurance agent and he eventually sold it. Last I had tracked it down it was on a used car lot in Virginia and was very rough, but still had the white top and still showed the stripe. Our insurance agent, along with myself, have since lost track of the car.

Sorry for the long intro, glad to be here and enjoy reading about the cars we all love. I enjoy all of GM's of these years as I also owned a 77 Monte Carlo while my best friend mentioned above had a 76 Monte at the same time.

I am starting to shop for a 76 442 that is a nice, done, car that is nice enough for local shows. I don't have the energy or the resources to do any major work on one.

Thanks for having me. :D

Welcome to the site! That Edge regional car sounds cool, can't say that I've ever seen one. If you can dig up a pic that would be great.

Here are a few pics of the Cutlass 'Edge' I grew up in. Mom asked that she not be posted online :D , so I kinda obliged. I, on the other hand, have no problems with me being posted in the wonderful baby blue suit. I have a pic of the nose somewhere, and me in the same suit, and will post it whenever I locate it. This was a cool car, sorry the pictures don't show more details. As I find more, I will post them.

I love talking about this car, since it was in the family until 1987. Any questions or comments, I am willing to share as much as I can (and can remember)
