I have a 1973 442 350 4 speed car. The car will be coming home on thursday from the painter, and I am going to get a complete exhaust for it in a month or so. The engine is all stock and the car is as clost to stock as I can keep it so I want to keep the cars stock manifolds on it but would like a little noise with the system. Our local shop has felpro turbo mufflers. (I don't know a thing about the mufflers.) Is it worth getting a set of higher dollar mufflers? And system. They quoted me $275 for the aluminized system.

I am by no means and expert on this subject, but I'll offer $.02.
I like the sound of turbo-style mufflers in general. Walker makes some good-sounding Thrush and Dynomax turbos. They sound aggressive when you nail it, but it won't annoy your neighbors idling in the driveway.
IMO, for your application the only upgrade worth considering is probably going to stainless instead of aluminized, simply due to the fact that you're in Michigan. But if you don't plan to use the car in the winter, obviously that's not such a concern. Otherwise, $275 sounds like a fair deal to me, assuming the shop does nice work.

FelPro makes gaskets...Flo Pro makes mufflers.
Do what Mario does & put some Magnaflow mufflers on it...great sound & quality.

I agree with the turbo mufflers they sound great and not too loud to drive. You could think about the true dual manifolds if you don't have them already. Still looks stock but no crossover pipe.
