I just installed the wrong Sport Mirrors on my 74 Cutlass Supreme. I do not know what GM model they are from, but the angle of the base is different than the contour of my door. They look like they are sticking straight up. I picked them up off of Ebay a couple years ago. Someone posted (different forum) that there is an angled base gasket which "cants" the mirror away from the window, thus correcting the angle. I called Fusick, and they list part # MGR 712 as a base gasket for 71-77 Sport Mirror, but Fusick told me the gasket is flat, not angled. I am considering filing down the tall side of the base, jury-rigging this to fit the contour of my doors. Please take a look at my crude drawing, and if you have access to YOUR sport mirrors, measure the dimensions I need. This would make life quite a bit easier for me, as I have the Cutlass in storage, and I try to get my ducks in a row before I go to work on her. Thanks.

I bought some supposedly off a 73 lemans an had the same problem. I just flipped them over, an shaved the plastic allignment thingy off an they line up perfect. Cant tell their not factory unless you look real close.

Granny, mine are all metal. the only plastic is a flat thin gasket.? I am considering filing them down, but would like some rough measurements first.

the gaskets are metal? I did see some pastic gaskets for 73-77 on e-bay yesterday. I think about ten dollars.

No, the gaskets are plastic, but flat and only like 1/32" thick.

oh, ok. I did'nt see the e-bay listing I saw yesterday. Their was another though, he says they'll fit 73-87. I went that route once and ended up with mirrors cocked in too far, so I'd be leary about buying those. good luck.

exactly. like I said the ones I have now did the same thing when I put them on. the gaskets were real thin on one side an thick on the other. thats when I brainstormed an flipped them over. I'm pretty sure they said they were off a 73 lemans. check out my shotty pics on my page an you,ll see how they line up perfect now.

As far as I know they are the same gasket for the 73-77 Olds Cutlass. Once you change the body style they would change for the different contours. I may have a used set in decent shape, I would need to check them first and make sure they are good. I have a new set from Fusick, but I put them in a safe place until I needed them.. Now I need/want them and cant find them! Let me know and Iwill look for ya!

The one with the bigger angle is from my old 77 Cutlass S. The other is from
my 79 Holiday 88 mirror. Same mirrors, different spacer/gasket

Weird, why would Fusick say the ones for 73-77 were "Flat" and NOT angled?
