Seems to be a lot of 75 H/O's coming up for sale lately. Think Bullrun had anything to do with that?

I live in Cleveland, and I saw this car on Saturday. First it has a flat tire so I couldn't drive it, second it has a hole in the trunk through the drivers wheelwell the size of a softball, and third it has virtually NO interior. The dash is fine (but very dirty), the console is mostly there (the rear door is missing) but the rest of it is virtually useless. Headliner is shot, all the rear window trim is shot, the sail panels are crumbling and useless, drivers door panel is badly torn and heavily soiled, passenger door panel is heavily soiled, carpeting is beyond help, and all other interior trim is either heavily soiled or maybe even missing. (parts of the interior were disassembled.) All the seats will need to be recovered, the swivel bucket backs are pretty scraped up. On the plus side it did seem relatively rust free except for the trunk. It did start after a little effort. Also the t-tops (not Hurst Hatches) were sealed with rubber cement, so they probably leak. Light surface rust on the front bumper (should clean off, not bad) but heavy rust on the air cleaner.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case anyone was going to bid on it. At $2600.00 I'm passing.

Howard, those look just like first generation Hurst Hatches in the pictures. They have the metal edge all around the glass. What else could they be? Also in the pictures the car appears to have the console rear compartment lid. It is certainly in rough condition for $2600 and sounds like it is filthy.

They ARE the 1st generation t-tops as were the spare set in the trunk. My car originally had the same, however they were recalled in 1977 I think and replaced with the second generation without the metal trim. As I recall though my originals had the Hurst Hatch emblems in the glass same as my current ones. I remember the dealer referring to them as "Hurst Hatches" back then.(I bought my car new in 1976) The important thing is this car had them sealed with rubber cement so I'm sure they had major leakage problems. The console lid IS there but the rear console door (the one in the very back) was not.
The shame of it is this car will probably be relisted and bought by someone thinking it's really close to being a driver. Ultimately it'll probably be parted out which is a real shame because the body is really pretty solid. But it's going to take a donor 75 H/O rusted beyond help but with a nice interior to economically get this car back to glory.
