Hi everyone, glad to have found this site. I have owned my '76 cutlass S 5-speed for 15 years and have driven it once all the way across the country to Florida (when gas was cheaper).

After starting a family, and living over seas for 4 years, this car has been sitting quite a bit. Thanks to finding this site I may be motivated to finally restore it. It it so nice to find a group of people who are also interested in similar cars.

welcome aboard, I am just due west of you on the other side of Stevens pass in Lake Stevens. I get to Wenatchee couple times a year...little too hot for me over there.

Thanks for all the replies and encouragement. Somewhere I read that you guys like pictures. I'll show you what I'm up against.

What are your collective opinions about paint schemes; original, 442 clone lower body stripe, or (usually seen on chebbys) dual rally stripes over the top of the car extending back from the grills, or other.

Yogi, lately it's been too hot for me here too.

Welcome to the site. You've got a really nice original car to restore. That's cool you've owned it all these years. Have fun restoring it. As far as opinions on how to restore it, I usually lean toward the original side of things, but if you're not aiming to make it a 100% correct, just off the showroom floor restoration, custom paint jobs or stripes or other graphics can be really cool! I also think the 73-77 Cutlasses look awesome with the "ram air" style fiberglass hoods that are made by VFN Fiberglass. Some members have them on their cars. I've got one on the race car. If you want to see pics, click on the Car Domain link in the signature or do a search of the old threads.

Have fun with your Olds! :)
