As mentioned in my introduction, I am completely sold on the late seventies/early eighties Olds participation in NASCAR. I am looking for any info on these cars: photographs, articles, memorabilia, technical specs etc. The Grey Ghost of Buddy Baker immediately comes to mind as well as the Busch No 11 car of Cale Yarborough. Can anyone help in this regard?

Thanks 442. I must say I love the r/c versions - what scale are those and are the shells commercially available. The Donnie Allison Hawaiian Tropic model is a beautiful piece.

Have you seen the footage of Bobby Allison and Cale Yarbough crashing on the last lap at Daytona, both Oldsmobiles I think.

I have a video of the 1980 Daytona where Buddy Baker set the fastest 500 mile race in an Olds. I think that record still stands

Thanks guys! Now you have me really excited! Just let me know about how I must go about to acquire those copies - if at all possible of course. You are quite right; the 1980 Daytona 500 record of Buddy Baker still stands at 176,7 mph.

Here are some real cars...they are listed as 1978 or 1979 Oldsmobiles, but that is the years these particular cars raced. The body style is clearly 1976/77

Thank you very much Ken. The No 11 car is the Cale Yarborough/Busch Olds with which he won the 1978 Winston Cup Championship. The No 1 Olds is from the 1979 Daytona with pole sitter Buddy Baker next to him. The same car is also featured as the No 12 version driven by Donnie Allison. The photograph of the No 28 leading, is from the 1980 Daytona and is the legendary Gray Gost of Buddy Baker.

Here are some more. I am a Darrell Waltrip fan, so most of these will be of his Gatorade car.

Thanks Scot! Up to now I have only read about the Waltrip Olds, but have never seen actual photographs; so this is a tremendous addition to my NASCAR Olds gallery. All you guys seem to be driving me dream car - the 76/77 Cutlass 442! Unfortunately there is not a single example of them in South Africa. I am trying to convince someone to buy his 1973 Olds Cutlass Salon (original condition with matching engine and chassis numbers) as that is the only Olds I have come across in my searches.

I didn't get to see any Nascar in '77, but they sure are pretty!
When the '81 Cutlass began to dominate, I could catch some hilites on ESPN. I mainly remember posting the winning race results in my locker in HS when a Cutlass won.
