I have a 1973 cutlass, I want to leave the front bumper off and put some driving lights in the center gap also I want to open two ducts where the the bumper shock absorbors are now, for fresh / ram air and wanted to know what you guys think? I don't like the way these bumpers stick out.

To each his own, but I think bumpers are required by law in most areas.

The front bumper sticks out because it's designed to withstand a 5 mph impact. Believe me they work. I had the unfortunate situation to "test" the front bumper on my 74. Worked like a champ. No front end damage to my car. Can't say that about the little Japanese car I was shoved into, and I'm sure I got shoved into him at well over 5 mph. I'm almost positive the law would say you need bumpers on a street driven vehicle. Besides that, you're risking major front end damage to your car if it's involved in even a minor collision. Parts aren't that easy to find anymore. I'd suggest keeping the front bumper on it. It's your car though...

I agree, plus, safety aside, the car would look like crap.
