I have been trying to find some nice decent mirrors for my 76 Cutlass S , so to make a long story short, I choose to go this way with my Cutlass
Summit Racing sells mirriors and I bought a set from them for 40 dollars. They are almost like Ralley Mirrors and with the base on my pitted chrome mirrors these darn near match up.

There is a little bit of difference in the size and shape of the mirrors compared to the factory ones from Oldsmobile. BUt they look darn good on my Cutlass!

I painted them and put them on the Cutlass today. I made a web page for the pictures I took. Take a look see.
I think this will surprise a lot of you of how they look on the Cutlass.
here is the link to the pictures

Sweet!!! Harv, your car really does look good! I agree, one of the best looking cars on the site, but then again I'm a little biased to the color! :D What kind of handle do you have on your shifter?

Until I saw them painted I would have said stick with Stock Sport mirrors. But with painting them the color of the car they look like they belong. They look great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Brad and everyone else for the nice words, I like you car too Brad! There is a lot of nice cars on this board. I wish more people would post pictures of their car on here in their album.

The shifter handle is made Mr. Gasket 9624, advance auto sells them, here is the link:

Here is a picture of the knob in the Cutlass

http://www.34thsignalbn.org/mirrors/shiftknob.JPG

If you buy the shift knob, you will need a 9/16 Tap, Tap the knob out stopping after every full turn with the tap, place the new knob on your shifter, you want to make sure you can put your fingers onto the side prongs to release the shifter with your hand on the shift knob. if you go too far down with the shift knob, it will not shift into gear, You want to stop your threads like the orginal shift knob, this way, when you turn to tighten the knob, it will tighten straight and it will not turn anymore, like the orginal does. Dont use the set screw, you wont need it, if you do this right.

The set screw will strip the threads on the shifter, you can alaways run a tap threader down on the shifter threads if you do decide to use the set screw and want to go back to the orginal shifter from Olds. So all is not lost. I like the feel of the shifter handle, more to hang onto, Todd has one in his car I believe, HURST SHIFT KNOB

Harv, great minds must think alike :D. I put the same handle on mine a few years ago. Here's a pic of mine that you took at the Nats:
Edit: oops, I didn't see your reference at the bottom of post #7. Do I have mine 180 out? I had it where you have yours, but it felt better where I have it now. I guess whatever works.
