what all would be needed to convert my car to a 4 speed? i'm not sure which transmissions were used in our cars or anything. Will the clutch, stick shift, tranny swap out of other 73-77 A bodies? Would this be a major re-engineering project or would it be a rather easy swap in? I'm not seriously thinking about doing this but it's something I'd consider down the road, if it's possible and the parts are easy to find (ha -- like any A body parts are easy to find!) Thanks...

Supposedly its an easy swap if you have all of the items from a stick car. I have seen one '77 442 that was converted, years ago. Good looking car, 350 with an older 4-speed trans. Only thing he didn't get was the 4-speed console, so he cut the original console to fit. Looked ok in the end. It would be fun to have a 4-speed version.

Try finding a 250 V8 5 Cutlass speed and take all the stuff, pedals, linkage, etc. Get an M21 or M22 and if you can, get a console. I saw one for sale a about 8 years ago for $350. If you think digtal tachs are hard to find, try finding a 4 speed console for our cars  I did look at my 4 speed Vette the other night with that in mind and then gave my head a shake :D Of course there is a nice 73 442 that can be had for a miniscule $15K

I saw a 4 speed console on Ebay about a year or 2 ago and I believe, it didn't meet reserve and ended around $325. It also needed a small repair. Only one I have seen in years.
