I want to freshin up the look of my 77 442 grills The brite chrome looks good and will need just a little help. The satin silver on the other hand needs touch up. Has anyone done this, what products did you use and does it work for the headlight trim also, the silver is fading on those also.

A few years ago, Krylon made a Dull Cast Aluminum Paint. Was an absolute perfect match for the Grills and Headlight Bezels. To date I have yet to see the paint anywhere. I have checked Auto stores, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Hobby stores, etc. It's a perfect aluminum color match but in a matte finish.

I used argent silver wheel paint that I had from re-doing some Chevy rally wheels on my headlight bezels. Looked like a perfect match to me. It is not a high gloss finish.

I think I have some argent silver wheel paint here so I can try that. I'll look ariund for the krylon too maybe the stores up here will have it. What is the best product for polishing the chrome on the grill. I think it's plastic and I don't want to use anything to harsh that may damage it.

I have used Never Dull magic wading polish. Comes in a can at the auto parts, I think Eagle 1 makes it these days. I've also used Meguire's plastic polish. It is a little milder and doesn't leave the oily residue that the never dull leaves behind. The never dull can rub off paint too if you're not careful. It is mainly for metal but works on the plastic chrome.
