Reading Pauls story about how he wrecked his H/O brought up memories of the time i put a new carb on my 75 cutlass. I took it for a test drive and it idled fine but when i hit the gas the pedal wouldn't return fast enough, so it either stuck or slowly went back to idle. Well, I found if i blipped the gas it would come back to idle, except this one time when it stuck at about 3/4 throttle and i was running out of road. I tried hitting the brakes but there was to much throttle. I shut the car off and came to a stop. Then I fixed the throttle and idled it back home. That's my scary stuck throttle story.

To fix the sticking throttle I put a super strong return spring maybe even 2 on there so that would never happen again. The pedal was super hard to press down and it was working great till the cable snapped :) The funny thing was to get it home this time I tied the only thing i had in the trunk to the throttle lever, a thick dried out braided rope. So I tied one end to the throttle and the other end in my hand out the window pulling on it to give it gas. LOL.. I made it home after ting 2 or 3 splices in the rope where it kept breaking.

Let here your funny or maybe not so funny Olds stories.

I guess the best [worst] I got was not having any service brakes at all and used my e-brake until I could get them fixed. The thing you do when your young and dumb. lol
