I'm seriously considering getting this car. It is only about an hour and a half from me. Owners says it is from Michigan and does have some rust, and is sending me better photos.

would this be another drive or a parts car? either way, looks to be in pretty good shape. If it's only an hour and half away you should drive out tonight!

Ok, so. I went and looked at the '76 442 this evening. I guess I have never really looked at a car from Michigan. WOW!!!! Hello Rusty!!!! The car is in good shape. Doesn't appear to have ever been abused. Previous owner, just drove it. 91k on the clock and looks to be original. But, would need both quarters replaced, both doors replaced, new gas tank, both bumpers replaced and various other pieces. Interior is in really good shape, swivel buckets, console, original radio, etc. Dash is perfect. I have made her, yes her, an offer, we'll she is she takes it or not. I didn't offer much, but it would be a fun car just to cruise around in and confuse my friends with... I'll let you know what happens...

Yep, talked to the owner yesterday. She was nice, but basically said she wasn't selling the car for what I offered. She told me they purchased the car from Michigan with the intentions of "fixing it up". But have since changed their minds. My guess is someone quoted them a price to repair the rust, that scared them into selling it and now they are trying to recoop what they paid for the car. She said she will be listing it on eBay again with better photos. I mentioned that would help as the car was not truly represented in the photos. I also told her all of the panels that needed to be replaced, her comment was: "The rust on it isn't too bad, I'm from Minnesota and I know what rust looks like. This is more surface rust". Yeah, surface rust alright, it rusted through every surface on the car. You can literally see through the floor pans in the trunk through to the ground and through the lower quarters. Oh well. I asked her to keep me in mind in case anything falls through... No pun intended...

What the hell? Where's the love? Is this Barrett Jackson syndrome striking again?

I don't really know if it was Barrett-Jackson or one of those, "uh-oh, what have we gotten ourselves into" situations. She really didn't give me a definite reason as to why she was selling. Like I mentioned, I think they bought the car site unseen, got it home from being shipped, and went uh-oh, no way!

Don't know if it was a Barrett-Jackson (Woo whoo!) or a Michael Jackson (What have I gotten myself into now?):D
