does anyone have any idea on locating the Olds emblem that mounts on the dual gate cover plate? I have seen some with the H/O emblem mounted on the bottom portion of the plate and others with just the Olds emblem in the upper right corner. I have seen more with the latter style mentioned. I also have a quandry with the sail panels of the rear seat interior. Mine are flaking and cracking (were these issued by olds or did Hurst contract them done?) any ideas on saving them or good replacements? I have considered having a set of supreme panels modified using a matching interior vinyl to cover the opera window openings. I hate to do so but the plastic currently in the car is not long for the world. Pile it on me I am running out of ideas. thanks

Finding those sail panels will be tough. I don't know of any way to save them once they start turning to plastic sand. I have seen those white panels broken down to a pile of little plastic chunks in the back seat. The panels that Hurst made or had made are not as good a quality as the GM panels and just don't last. I am having the same problem with my T top latching mechanism covers in my car. Eastwood makes a plastic welding set up, maybe you can modify some Cutlass panels to work and not look hideous.
My 74 Hurst Olds had the H/O emblem mounted at the rear of the shifter plate when I bought it in 78. It didn't have a dual gate and I'm sure the car came that way when new. I talked with the original owner and he said it came with the factory Cutlass shifter and the H/O emblem.
The dual gate shifter in my 442 has an H/O emblem at the rear of the top plate and I will probably remove it but don't want to mess up the paint so I'll wait until I'm going to re-paint it. It is on there pretty good. I was told it came from a 75 H/O and came with the emblem mounted on the top plate. There is a good chance all the H/Os didn't have the shifter emblem but who knows?

Anyone send any parts to Just Dashes in CA? I heard they have the ability to restore pieces like these. I also heard they were expensive. Anyone out there have any opinions on them? Good luck, bad luck...whatever?

So do you think these cars have just been modified by previous owners? The emblem looks good in the lower portion of the plate, it is kind of an empty spot otherwise.

Never delt with them, but all I've ever heard on the web is good things about 'em, they are expensive though. But you know the old saying...................

On my 74 I'm sure the emblem came mounted on the rear portion of the top plate. I talked with the original owner extensively when I bought the car, and specifically asked about why it had the emblem but not a dual gate shifter. It had a digital tach and H/O mud flaps but was a 350 single exhaust car. I wish I still had it. I don't think it was owner added because he said it came that way when he bought it at Jim Allee Oldsmobile. It was the only place that utilized the small H/O emblem on the 74. Come to think of it I still have that emblem somewhere. The chrome edges were peeling but I have it.
