Following the fantastic google ads found atop these forums ;) I came across US Body's site. I remembered these existed a few years ago and I'm glad they're still available. My question is are these something that can be painted chrome and prepped for our cars on the street or are they simply meant for racing? Seems to me this would be a great way to cut our weight down... but then you lose the safety of your bumpers... what do you think? Look under the 73-77 Cutlass tab on the left... they got stock hoods too...

I got a fiberglass front bumper [again, off Dennis W451973] havn't installed it yet. There is a somewhat new chrome paint out that is supposed to look just like chrome, kinda pricey though. That's what I'm going to use when I do get around to it, you spray it from a gun, not a spray bomb. The real weight is in the inner supports though, I was going to lose the support and fab up some brackets out of aluminum stock. Definatly would not want to get in an accident, alot of stuff will get crunched without the support in there.

A few years ago I was running the '77 at the local drag strip quite regularly and thought it may help with my et's.

Well a fair bit of time has passed; have either of you guys went ahead and installed the fiberglass bumpers? What chrome paint were you thinking of? Also I would think if someone sat on the bumper or something it would flex enough to crack the paint, would that happen? Any cool supports that were fabbed up?

No, I've never installed the bumper or painted it. Here's a link to the chrome paint:

Wow! That is very expensive. Have you heard of anything that gives close to equal results but costs less?

I have US Body rear bumper on my 77 442, going to get cowl hood from VFN next for it. I wanted to go with the W-30 hood, but my engine sits too high. I might also order the front bumper through VFN at same time as hood, but also being afraid of hitting anything with glass bumper as well!
