Make that "Patriotic Duty". Today I voted in the Canadian Federal election. While I waited the five minutes to vote, I can't help thinking that in some parts of the world I'd be taking my life in my hands. It's nice to think that here (and in the US too) that you go into the school, tell the volunteers your name, show your ID and then go behind a booth to cast your ballot.

There was no police, no guards, no one except the volunteers and the voters. I suppose that since yesterday was Thanksgiving Day in Canada, I am thankful to be born in a country where I can publically agree, disagree and even state my opinions about the political process. I've been to many countries whose people don't get to vote, and where they do, they must be protected.

I feel good. My party may not win but I made a choice. You guys will go through the samething next month. Let your voice be heard. You guys have the same rights and freedoms as we have. Enjoy the process. I took it all in today. Polls closed on the west coast about 15 minutes ago. We know the results now and will have the final count in about 2-3 hours. .

Well, I dont know about the choices you had to vote for but this will be the most difficult election for the United States in a long time. I still dont know who im voting for, and most everybody I talk to feels the same way, but like you said, its nice to have the freedom to do so and not worry about your safety in the process. Freedom rules !

Glad you voted Ken. I’ve been to a lot of crappy countries that had no political freedom, or religious freedom for that matter. I was wishing we had some better choices as I am an independent and don’t vote on party lines. I am going to vote for the candidate that has actually served this country, and not a rock star the media tells me to vote for. I think the democrats are crazy, Clinton is ten times as qualified as Obama, but they give us a rock star. I have lead more people in my career than he has, but do not consider myself qualified to be president. I do not dislike him, nor do I buy some of the crap they try to lay on him, I just don’t think he is qualified to be a world leader. But no mater your personal choice I encourage you to get out and vote. Like Ken said. “Enjoy the process”

I know this won't help anyone's decision, but I have seen both candidates driving '77 Cutlass' in recent weeks. Obama's is blue, McCain's is red, but Obama has T-tops and a bench seat. McCain's has a floor shifter w/console, but it has much less rust than Obama's. I think Obama's has original paint. I saw him driving here in Chi-town last week, and he said he actually wants a '73 442 w/4-speed. Sarah Palin tells me that McCain wants a '72 because he prefers that body style.

Oh, McCain also has a '68 Ramrod, but it's a roller right now (no engine). I think it just came back from paint in Aug.

Thanks Jim, now I'm on the fence again.
