Very indepth post off of the Buick board, shows that there is so much to learn in this hobby. Get a drink and sit back for a while, take notes and soak the knowledge in.

Ok,finally got done reading(and laughing),then looked around their board a little bit(its huge!).Anyway,I'm thinking that our Lansing built cars should have the "P" penny (face down) and problebly 3 30 degree taper mouse turds in the heaterbox.:D

I would think that the flat end turds would be more rare since I believe the producers of such went on strike in mid production. I had heard they were upset that without the taper the production line kept slamming shut.:p

Hmmm, never thought of that.Does that mean that this type is worth more on ebay?:p Cuz if word of this gets out there'll be a big scramble for blunt end turds, and I'll bet it would be a pain in the a$$ to reproduce them:D

Some of that nonsense actually went on as I've found loose bolts, drink cans etc in places they'd have had to been put while car was being assembled.
The Chevrolet and especially Corvette guys need to read that thread. It might make them realise how ridiculous some of their AR shyt is... cars weren't built to impress/satisfy an anal-retentive fussbudget 40 years down the road. They were built to get out the door and sold with a minimum of warranty work and owner complaints.

You speak WAY to much truth for most to handle!
I hope you are raising a bunch of kids. :D

Though the thread I am sure was a tongue in cheek effort the humor I found is the fact some are really freaky wierd when it comes to "factory original'. I read faithfully Muscle car Review all through the 80"s and early 90"s and scratched my head at the guys who must remark every chalk scratch, if the trunk had a paint run in it... put it back that way, its factory original. Its as if every American car was meticulisly pieced together by hand and there is no way they can be improved on. How many thousands of these and others were made in any given year? I dig factory original in most cases but am not going to lose sleep if it is not exactly as it was when it left the factory. My 75 H/O will have the S grills, why? I like the way they look better than the Salon grills. My preference and easilly changed back if so desired. Anything can be taken to the extreme and there will always be someone who will. And if I find the notorious whisky bottle inside a body panel of one of my cars it will go on the shelf with other memoribilla cause it will make a great conversation piece.

Ask ragz442 if you have any doubts about this information as I called him up and asked what size was the seat bolt, t-50 or t-56. I was redoing by back board under the rear window, this is what I found!
1 dime
1 penny face down_My Car was made in Flint?? :)
Gum wrapper
Star Wars Cardboard Collect Set Button
Rusty Cresent Wrench-Does that mean they threw the wrench into the fire?

That is actually rather clean from what I have seen in the past. My first Cutlass had rear seat belts I could not pull out, they were both jammed with roach clips. I acually love to bring a car home and look under the seats for whatever I can find. Once I bought a 83 T-bird to scrap for 40.00 and found 14.00 worth of change.

I TOTALLY agree! I've been a subscriber to Hemmings muscle machines for a couple of years now,the Restoration profile cars are usually restored to an inch of their precous life.I mean, who cares if the INSIDE of the rearend has the proper paint on codes and the paint"slop marks" have the right texture! It seems like thats all they feature,I want to see some guy featured that restored his car at home, useing used parts(and some new) that he had scrounged and saved for(not $15,000 of NOS parts),how he did this while haveing a full time job and raising a family, how his budget resto finally hit the streets and went to its first car show.Sure he didnt win becouse his slop marks were gone off of the diff and the engine wasnt date coded properly.Guess what,he had FUN and enjoys his car.Isnt that what its all about?Several months ago they had a feature"how to restore your Mopar trunk floor" You know, important stuff like weatherstrip glue overspray, paint or no paint on the rub block, how to pile up the seamsealer so it looks like crap(its factory!).Trust me,when I finally get the S in the shop i'll care less that I took the casting texture off of the spindle when I cleaned it up,I'll just be glad I'm finally working on it:cool:
