I am looking into replacing the a/c compressor on my '77. Can anyone recommend either replacing it with a new one, rebuilding it or purchasing a rebuilt piece? Any shops or parts house good for this?

Brad,
Supercars Unlimited. Bought mine thru them last year. Installed it last spring.
Its a direct replacement, even as it lists 72-76 years. Bolted right in, the lines connected right up. Only small issue I has was a retainer clip for the superheat switch kept popping out for some stupid reason, ended up taking a small dremmel disc, made the groove a bit deeper for the clip to hold in place.

For the money, it was worth it last summer. Another technical problem is with my belt, as these cars are not equiped with tensioners, so I think this year I will use a lock washer backing on the adjustment, should keep it tight.
