i was wondering if ya'll could put some info out there for me. i am thinking of building the 455 i have, but i need some links to engine kits, heads and intakes. other than the usual suspects ie (summit, jegs). i have a th400 for it and have a lead on a 4.11 posi unit. also a 3500 stall. my car is a 76 supreme (nothing special). its in the registry. i want a rice killer, not a quater mile car. any and all help would be appreciated.

Phil:
Post a few more pics of your car on the registry site. Is the car rust free? Looks like there arent many options on that car, which is a good thing if you are making it into a monster with a 455.
Its a perfect candidate for a killer motor!! No one would expect it comming if you keep it in the "sleeper" condition, which could really be cool. Man it would be fun to go with the original color combo or leave it the way it is, but upgrade the engine, rear end, tranny.. and suspension. Good luck...

Be careful with Mondello.......long story. For performance advise, vendors etc. your best bet is RealOldsPower.com

Opinion is good. Advice is better. Results are best.
Whomever may be suggested, it is ALWAYS a good idea to tread lightly and be smart about which vendors to work with. For every recommendation there is a detracting voice.
Another good source: http://www.jsmachineoldsmobile.com/home.html
Who by the way is well known in certain Olds circles.

Under this link you will see proven engine combos
STAY AWAY FROM MONDELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
My best advice to you is to call a vendor that is close to were you live.
Tell them what you want to do and follow his advice and buy parts from them. You will be dollars ahead.
I have heard good things about mjperformance, Smitty is a great guy. I have never done business with him.
I have done business with FCR performance and had great service.

firethorne77, no the car is not completely rust free, there is some rot under the vinyl. otherwise mostly rust free. it is a low option car. i have a lead on a console w/floor shift, swivel bucket seats. i also have a lead on a 4.11 posi (i think, still working on that, he's not sure of the gearset, but he's been busy) i have a 455 and a th400 that i acquired when i bought my 70 supreme(that i had to sell)(she went to a good home though) so i have most of the parts i need to make a killer resto mod (rice killer) which will be just violent when i am done. the only modifications ahead for the body is to remove the vinyl and fix any problems i find, then straighten her up, block and paint. (gloss black) no trim. chrome wheels. on the car now. clean up the bumpers. thats my list at this time. when i can get a few more pics on my camera, i will post more. thats all i have on the comp right now.

Dick Miller Racing, Hernando Ms., Rocket Racing, Dont remember where they are located but are very reputable. There very good builders all over just do some research but for Olds performance it would be best to go with someone that knows them, high performance is the same all over but some shops just know how to make an Olds go fast and are better at it. A good local machine shop could build the engine with Olds parts from another supplier. 3500 is a lot of stall for the street, the builder can recommend a converter to work with thier combo. Good luck and great to have you aboard!
